The safe and energy efficient VarioS DC pump now include the new VarioS controller giving you more control. With 5 different energy saving speeds and two feed modes, the controller lets you know what your pump is doing at a glance.
Third Party Control
There is a dedicated port on the VarioS controller letting you directly connect your VarioS pump to any third party controller through a 0-10V reference port. Controlling your pump through a controller like an Apex lets you create your own flow profiles which are particularly handy for closed loop systems creating a random flow throughout the aquarium.
Having a pump that lets you directly attach a float switch has several advantages. The float can let you set high or low points in your sump, skimmer cup, or display tank that will shut the pump off when the float is activated.
The VarioS controller includes a waterproof 3-conductor union that connects to the pump creating a safe and detachable connection.

I have the Reef Octo REGAL Protein Skimmer and it's runs the VARIOS-2. Wow, I thought the new SKIMZ Quite pro pumps were good these blow them away. They run nice and quite and are build like a tank! I bought this one for a my saltwater mixing station that is connected to my main display. I have been through 3 EcoTech M1 pumps in the last year and a half. Whats crazy, is I clean all of my pumps in 2 part, 1prt Vinegar and 1 part RO water, so I take care of my pumps. I might even go with a VARIOS-8 for my new SCA 150 BUILD & have my Ecotech M1 for a back up on stand by!! My saltwater mixing station is two 25 gallon NSF Storage Barrels and I will be adding this pump to mix my salt and transfer water over to the saltwater barrel..

They work flawlessly and the float switch and 0-10v is a bonus. I’ve only been running it a month in the tank but used it to move water while filling the tank. Spot on every time.

The controller is also well designed and easy to use, and I like the fact that it comes with a float switch. Do note that the float switch must be installed upside-down if you want to use it in the sump (corded side of detector facing down).

Can this pump be used as a return pump on a 65 gallon sps reef? Can it be set up with a battery back up and if so, what all would be needed to do such?
Is the flow output continuously variable using the 0-10v interface, or is it limited to the same 5 levels available with the VarioS controller?

On the flow rate/ water head picture above. What setting 1-5 is used to make these readings?
The flow chart on this page is based on the maximum flow setting for this pump. As head height increases and gets closer to the max head rating (14.7ft), the flow will continue to drop and eventually reach zero.
