5 Flow Settings - Precise control of the pump for any application.

True Slow Startup - Easy on equipment and saves energy.

Detachable Controller - Waterproof union.

Float Switch - Creates a new standard for pump safety.

Rotatable Volute - Rotates in 90-degree intervals.

Integrated Memory - Keeps programming even during power outages.

Feed Mode - Shuts down for 15 or 60 minutes.

Submersible or External - Perfect as a return, closed loop, or reactor/filter pump.

Super Quiet Operation - Perfect for places where any noise is not tolerable.

Control

The safe and energy efficient VarioS DC pump now include the new VarioS controller giving you more control. With 5 different energy saving speeds and two feed modes, the controller lets you know what your pump is doing at a glance.

Third Party Control

There is a dedicated port on the VarioS controller letting you directly connect your VarioS pump to any third party controller through a 0-10V reference port. Controlling your pump through a controller like an Apex lets you create your own flow profiles which are particularly handy for closed loop systems creating a random flow throughout the aquarium.

Safety

Having a pump that lets you directly attach a float switch has several advantages. The float can let you set high or low points in your sump, skimmer cup, or display tank that will shut the pump off when the float is activated.

The VarioS controller includes a waterproof 3-conductor union that connects to the pump creating a safe and detachable connection.

Product Questions

Is adapter 110/220V or only 110V?
Question by: Robert Molen on Nov 19, 2022, 8:57 AM
This pump will work on any standard US outlet. If you wish to use it on something else I recommend reaching out to Reef Octopus to see what they advise.
Answer by: William Reed (BRS Staff) on Nov 26, 2022, 10:25 AM
Thanks for reaching out! All products on our site are standard 110V
Answer by: James Johnson (BRS Staff) on Nov 26, 2022, 10:26 AM
There are 2 extra ports on the right side of the controller. Can those be used to control a couple of octo pulse power heads? if not what are these ports for?
Question by: Ian Crusan on Nov 19, 2021, 11:48 AM
Hello,

This is a great question. Unfortunately; no, those ports are not in use in the US version of the controller. Happy Reef Keeping.

Do you have the skimmer version of this pump - Reef Octopus VarioS-4S Pinwheel Pump ?
Question by: Charles Tyler on Jan 19, 2018, 8:41 PM
At this time we do not carry the pinwheel versions of the VarioS pumps.
Answer by: Charlie on Jan 30, 2018, 5:03 AM
On the flow rate/ water head picture above. What setting 1-5 is used to make these readings?
Question by: Rico on May 12, 2017, 2:18 AM
Hey there,
The flow chart on this page is based on the maximum flow setting for this pump. As head height increases and gets closer to the max head rating (14.7ft), the flow will continue to drop and eventually reach zero.

Happy reefing!
Answer by: Zack on May 15, 2017, 9:06 AM
Is the flow output continuously variable using the 0-10v interface, or is it limited to the same 5 levels available with the VarioS controller?
Question by: Jim Holt on Jan 18, 2017, 1:56 PM
Hey there! You will have more variation in the control of this pump when utilizing the Apex. You will be able to adjust from nearly 0% to 100% and anywhere in between. :-)
Answer by: Randy on Jan 20, 2017, 9:41 AM
Can this pump be used as a return pump on a 65 gallon sps reef? Can it be set up with a battery back up and if so, what all would be needed to do such?
Question by: Matt Hall on Dec 18, 2016, 1:29 PM
Great question! This pump would be a perfect fit for a 65gal tank, as a return pump. You would have to utilize a standard UPS battery backup as there is not proprietary one made specifically for this pump.
