Kicks Fish Butt By Mike on 1/25/2020Mike would recommend this product to a friendThis is the only pump I have ever seen that actually matches the flow curve. Lots of water
Powerful and Quiet By PumpActionJackson on 1/25/2019PumpActionJackson would recommend this product to a friendI've been running this pump for a 300 gallon (total volume) system for over two years with no maintenance on the pump. The pump feeds a manifold that splits water between my main tank and several support systems. The pump is situated in the tank stand; if the stand doors are open, the hum of the pump is noticeable. If the stand doors are shut, the hum is drowned out amongst the rest of the tank noise.
Works great By Anthony on 11/23/2018Anthony would recommend this product to a friendI bought two of these and switch them out annually and replace the pump gaskets so far no issues after running them for the past years
leaked By Disappointed on 6/9/2018Disappointed wouldn't recommend this product to a friendThe motor was not a Balder like advertised. It started leaking with hours and had gallon of water on floor next day. Bulk reef Supply did take care of the refund.
2nd one in 6 months By Pixel Reef on 12/30/2017Pixel Reef wouldn't recommend this product to a friendI would not recommend this pump. I am on my second one in 6 months. First one was making a whirring noise and now the second one is leaking on the shaft and spraying stuff out the sides. Reeflo does not provide phone numbers, only email support. Very disappointed in a USA made product.
After 1 Year in service By Reynold on 11/28/2017Reynold would recommend this product to a friendLet me start with this pump runs perfect!!!! LOVE it!!!!
The only issue was that the rear seal started to leaking after a year of running non-stop. I email Reeflo and they got back to me in hour! WOW that was cool...:) Beth help me adentify the pump and said I was in warranty. (Gold Version) She said it was the Rear Seal and will send it out that day. Got it in 2-4days later. Also she sent me a installation guide. it was outdated but you got the understanding of what needed to be done.
The next information is for FYI only. Information below differs from the guide. (seal is a PS-1000)
1- The shaft was full of rust and built up salt/metal. It was raised and very rough. (Knowing that the seal needs to be smooth and round)
a. Had to clean than Lightly sand down (I mean lightly!)
i. Making sure you did not reduce the diameter or make out of round.
ii. Used very fine grade and gently cleaned off the raised sharp rusted (Spinning the shaft I held the sand paper on it, removing the rough edges)
2- The had to take the back cover off to get to insert the screw driver. (Three Screws)
3- Had to clean the fan fins of all dust.
4- I have a newer pump and pictures were not relevant.
5- Rubber gasket was glued with hard rubber jell and had to clean it off the best I could. It would not come off. I was able to use Magic seal to make the seal otherwise it leaked.
a. When replacing the Seals this should be included in the kit.
Love the pump and fast service!!!!
Spend the extra and get this Gold Model By Dik Daniels on 1/28/2016Dik Daniels would recommend this product to a friendListen to me and this review. I tell it straight up, I'm a fish keeping OG. Get this Gold model over the cheaper Baracuda / Hammerhead pump. The difference is around $60. However with this you get the Baldor Motor. It is American made and runs 10 X quieter than the other model. I own both models. The other model loses significant head pressure around 2-3 years in age. It also begins to make noise and get louder and louder. the O rings and gaskets wear prematurely, causing leaks which can damage the floor beneath and the pump itself. Pay the extra money now or pay it later. If you have expensive stock like I do, and you're buying a pump this big and bad donkey, I'm sure you have a valuable setup and stock. Listen to me Luke…I am your Father…
Go gold or go home. Cheers
One powerful pump By RJ on 9/3/2015RJ would recommend this product to a friendI used this as my main pump for a basement sump. My display tank is 240 gallon on the first floor of the house with a 175 gallon sump in the basement. I have the pump pushing about 15' vertical and about 20' horizontal and I still have it valved back about 50%. Its only pulling about 2.5 amps at this level according to my Apex controller. It's also very quiet for a pump of its size. Even standing next to it, it's just a moderate hum.
Can you tell me the difference between these two pumps the Hammerhead/Barracuda Hybrid - 6000/4590GPH vs the Hammerhead/Barracuda Gold Hybrid - 6000/4300 GPH?? Or can you give me some advice about a return pump I am building a 340 gallon mix reef and want my return pump to also run my GFO, Carbon, and biopellet reactor. Also looking for a pump that makes the lease noise since the pump will be sitting under the tank in the living room..

Can you control output flow rate on the pump or simply by adding flow valve behind the output?
You can adjust the output with a gate valve ( or potentially a high quality ball-valve). This should only be installed on the output side, and never on the intake.
Have a great day!
I was wondering if you can use a reducer with this pump and go from a 1.5" pipe to a 1" pipe without any issues.
Have a great day!
