Quick Overview

Why does BRS recommend this?

The Syncra Silent line of pumps come in many different sizes and will fit most tank needs.  Sicce uses high quality magnets in their pumps, which allows them to spin smoother with less noise than almost all other pumps in their price category.  If your tank needs a high flow return pump, or a smaller pump for a low flow reactor our first choice will always be Sicce.

Quiet, energy-efficient pump for a variety of uses in wet or dry application. Use in salt or freshwater.

  • Superb pump By FLSharkvictim on 5/30/2017

I use this SYNCRA SILENT 1.5 for my BRS Dual Reactor that I hard plumbed into my sump along with a Spears Gate valve for full control on how much water I push through it. I was using the Cobalt MJ-1200 and this pump is so much nicer and a lot quieter than the MJ-1200. HIGHLY recommend for the BRS Dual Reactor or the Vertex 1.5l media reactor.
  • Works great By Nick on 4/9/2017

I bought this pump to help with water changes on a 55 gallon tank. I keep my bucket in a bathroom that's about 15 feet from the tank, with a little over 4 feet to the rim of the tank. With the pump dialed all the way up the pressure was just right. The water flow is perfect, not so strong to blow things around in my tank. I will add that I've only used it once so far, but I think that it will work out just fine.
  • Not reliable By Brent on 3/13/2017

I was happy with the pump while it worked. However, I've had two of these pumps and on both of them I was forced to replace the impeller after less than 1 year of service. Sicce customer service was basically useless and they exclude impellers from their warranty . Given that the impellers cost $25 each and are hard to find, I won't be buying more Sicce pumps.
  • Very pleased so far By PaParker on 3/6/2017

I got this primarily for use in water changes- transferring water out of a 30 gallon drum into another vessel and then from that into the tank. It's actually too strong, even dialed all the way back- i looked at the pump curves and thought i'd be okay at about 4 ft of head but it still puts out lots of water. I'm going to be using it in the sump for the 40b i'm setting up now and have no doubts it will do excellent in this application as well.
  • gets louder over time By briguy350 on 1/21/2017

i was impressed at how quiet this pump was new. now after 2 months of use and a couple of cleanings its got a very loud hum. my 25 fusion is right in my living room and can no longer stand the noise. will not be getting another one.
  • Return pump for 30 gallon with Durso By Tim on 12/21/2016

Just hooked this up for my 30 gallon tank with 15 gallon sump and durso overflow. It's the perfect return pump for this size tank for anyone that wants to compare. Certainly I can't give a long term assessment but I'm happy so far.
  • Sicce does it again! By Cyberaquarist on 12/12/2016

I replaced the stock return pump in my IM Fusion Lagoon 25 with this pump. The pump is virtually silent and pushes a lot of water. I had to throttle the pump back a good bit, because it was draining the return chamber faster than it could fill up. This is partially due to my media arrangement in the two IM Custom Caddies. You may be able to run the 1.5 at full throttle if you keep your socks or sponges clean all the time. Sicce has a reputation for producing some of the best pump s the n I ythe industry, and this little pump is no exception. It has a 5 year guarantee, so you know it is built with quality components. If you are thinking of buying the his pump, go ahead. It won't let you down.
  • Quietest Pump By DAVID on 4/3/2016

I have had Hydra, Rio Plus pumps. This one is MORE quieter than those. I will be buying this pumps for now on else I decide to go to an external pump.
  • Great pump By Marc on 2/14/2016

Using this pump as a sump return on a 75g softy tank, perfect flow and very quiet!
  • BRS recommended this pump to run the Vertex phosphate reactor. This pump has great flow and so quiet, that you cant even tell it's running. By Mark on 12/16/2015

BRS recommended this pump to run the Vertex phosphate reactor. This pump has great flow and so quiet, that you cant even tell it's running.
  • A quiet small pump By David on 5/7/2015

BRS recommended this pump for the BR-110 bio-pellet reactor. The pump has a small foot print and is very quiet. Easy to install. More than enough flow for the BR-110.
  • needs adaptor for Jumbo Reactor By Ken on 4/29/2015

I bought this to use with my jumbo reactor based on the recommendation of BRS. However it does not have any adaptor nor was it stated one was needed. Had I known this in advance I would have purchased the MJ1200 which is an exact fit.

Product Questions

Is there a way to attach 1" braided vinyl tubing to this (or should I order smaller tubing)?
Question by: Melissa LeGette on Dec 4, 2016 4:49:00 PM
Great question! The outlet for this pump is 1/2". You will not be able to use 1" tubing without using a series reducing fittings. It will also loose more head pressure and gph with the expansion to 1".

I want to use this for the BRS duel carbon/GFO reactor as recommended by your company.

How do I attach this to the reactor?
Question by: Ryan Angelo on Jun 6, 2016 5:56:00 PM

You will only need on fitting listed below.

Is this pump a direct replacement for the sicce syncra sk 200? I have a seaside aquatics ES5 protein skimmer that needs a new pump?
Question by: JL on May 10, 2017 10:24:00 PM
Hey there,
I'm afraid these pumps are not rated for use as a skimmer pump. They do not have pinwheel impellers for skimmer function and include standard impellers for water movement.

Have a great day!

What size braided tubing should I run with the 1.5?
Question by: Sean on Nov 12, 2016 12:27:00 AM
Great question! The output will accept 3/8"-9/16" hose, in which case, the 1/2" braided vinyl tubing will work. :-)
