Well worth it By Crude on 6/17/2017Crude would recommend this product to a friendThis is well worth the 50 bucks. I upgraded both of my echo smart drivers with these. Yes they do what they claim and make your motors run A lot quieter. I would guess the advance circuitry that makes the motors are in quieter is also easier on them this lengthening the life of the motor.
Great upgrade! By Matthew on 4/28/2017Matthew would recommend this product to a friendI upgraded my MP10ES with this and the wireless chip at the same time. The difference in my 3 year old Vortech was night and day. I can really only hear it if its above about 60% power and even then its very quiet. The dry side also stays a little cooler to the touch now.
I Stand Corrected! By Ken on 4/8/2017Ken would recommend this product to a friendPlease disregard my previous one star review. Was able to have my issues address by Ecotech support and my problems were due to the wetside and not the new QD driver. Now that it has been resolved the noise reduction is definitely significant. I wouldn't say 90% but well worth the money.
Save Your Money By Ken on 4/3/2017Ken wouldn't recommend this product to a friendI purchased this to quiet down one of my MP10's as my tank is right next to my desk and during nutrient transport or gyre modes the noise drives me crazy. Once I switched over, the so advertised "90% reduction" in noise was more like 5% max. If it didn't cost so much to return ship (+ restocking fee) I would return this without question but now I'm stuck. Luckily I bought one first to see if it was worth it. Sorry Ecotech but this failed miserably.
Worth the investment By Chad on 10/20/2016Chad would recommend this product to a friendI picked up one of the older EcoSmart MP10Ws and at full speed it was pretty loud. Upon installing this driver it really made a difference in how loud it was.
One word of caution. This driver DOES NOT have the Wireless RF Module for EcoSmart Drivers.
If the old driver you are replacing has one you can use the one out of it but if you are trying to convert one that is not wireless capable It will cost you $45.00 from there website.
Replacing the module is as simple as unplugging it from the circuit board of the old driver and plugging it into the new board.
Jurry still out By Larry on 6/6/2016Larry would recommend this product to a friendokay so the "W" doesn't light up like my MP10W and neither communicate at all. Can't get it to communicate with Reef Link either. Only reason I upgraded was to take the MP40 I bought on ebay and upgrade it to wireless controller.
Noticeably more quiet By bfrench on 5/31/2016bfrench would recommend this product to a friendSo I was very skeptical of this product. Without replacing the external motor or wet side I didn't believe it would be quieter. However, I was wrong. My tank is setup in my office and is about 4 feet from me. The noise level is noticeably lower. Certainly not silent, but I hardly notice when it switches over to nutrient transport which previously was incredibly noticeable.
Not actually more quiet By Josh on 5/21/2016Josh wouldn't recommend this product to a friendFirst let me say I LOVE Ecotech products, really love them. That being said I have had an MP10W and an MP10WQD running side by side and decided to upgrade the MP10W to the WQD. Needless to say I hear no notable difference whatsoever since the upgrade. The QD version is clearly the more silent product. I'm not sure if I need to upgrade the wet side as well to get the decibels I'm looking for, but upgrading the driver alone did not do it. I have since dismantled and thoroughly cleaned the wet side(non-upgraded side) to no avail. Again I want to say I LOVE Ecotech products but this just wasn't up to snuff in the volume category. As for flow rate, I really have no measurable way to tell if its putting out higher GPH but thats not why I purchased the upgrade.
Love this upgrade By Dave on 12/16/2015Dave would recommend this product to a friendIf you're running pre QD Vortechs i highly recommend this upgrade. There is a huge reduction in sound. Not sure about the flow increase but that wasn't the reason I bought it.
Worth the Upgrade! By Crack2jack on 5/27/2015Crack2jack would recommend this product to a friendUpgraded to this new driver. I gotta admit that it is quieter. I have a tank in my bedroom so I can tell the difference. Plus I can increase the flow rate and it isn't as loud. I have the QD MP10 version by the way.
Impressive By Q on 5/6/2015Q would recommend this product to a friendI have 2 MP40s. They are about 15 months old. They were noisy, so had to dial down and even then some of the modes like nutrient transport were loud. When the QD came out, I thought I would have to buy new pumps because I was a little skeptical about the effectiveness of just adding the controller but after installing it on one side which was the loudest, I can say that they actually work as advertised. I have kept the same wet side. When comparing the side with new QD driver and older driver, you can absolutely hear the difference. The only way I have been able to hear the QD is if I put my ear about 6 inches away. If the wet side rattles, it will need a little adjusting. previously no matter how much I adjusted, at high enough speeds it rattled. Now at 100% power I don't hear the rattle.
