- Metric to Standard PVC Adapters - Reef Octopus
Easily adapts Metric PVC fittings commonly found on Reef Octopus, Skimz, and other Metric based products to US Standard PVC Pipe. The Metric label inserts into any of the Metric fittings to accept standard PVC size pipe.
The metric side is a spigot and will slide into most metric fittings, and the standard size will slip over standard PVC pipe.

Why don't you add in the description that you need a coupling too? By Levi on 5/1/2020Levi would recommend this product to a friendThese will be great when I find the metric couplings. I also should have read all the reviews. I tore my sump apart to move it downstairs and now I have to put it all back together and order metric couplings.
Does what it's designed to do. By Ronald on 3/9/2020Ronald would recommend this product to a friendMaybe the description has been updated, but what it says now is accurate. Metric side goes into a metric fitting, commonly referred to as a "spigot" . In other words, it's outer diameter is the same outer diameter of a metric pipe. The other "US" end is like a US fitting. US pipe fits inside. So what it's doing is allowing a US pipe to connect to a metric fitting. If you want to connect this to a metric pipe, you will need to hunt down a metric coupler. Four stars because it's kind of thin. Not as thick as schedule 40, but it solves the problem of connecting a US pipe to the metric fittings that come on some equipment.
I wish the description was more clear By Jeffrey on 11/8/2019Jeffrey would recommend this product to a friendThe material for the part is fine, the 3 stars is just a ding on the description. I should have read the reviews and known this was not going to work by itself. The metric side does not slide on the existing pipe you need a slip adapter to go over the outside to make this work. I wish BRS would just tune the description to make this clear, and carry the other piece as well.
Don't get it By Kenneth on 7/10/2019Kenneth wouldn't recommend this product to a friendAs others said, these do NOT slip on to pipe to allow you to adapt. The metric side is actually the pipe size and you MUST use a metric coupling to glue onto the metric pipe and then glue this thing into it. Oh and good luck getting the appropriate metric coupling in the USA. It's near impossible. So if you are trying to adapt a Red Sea tank or similar.. This is NOT what you want.
Come on BRS fix this issue and carry the right parts we Red Sea tank modifiers need.
Misleading Product Name/Description By Josh on 2/21/2019Josh wouldn't recommend this product to a friendI should have read the other reviews first before purchasing. These "adapters" do not in fact adapt between two pipes, but instead a metric fitting to a Standard fitting. There is a big difference if you have a metric pipe and need to adapt from there to Standard. This will NOT work for that. As a few other reviews have said, you will need the Coral View PVC-CPLG to couple together. For some unknown reason, BRS does not carry that part and does not mention that you will need it either. Add another week to my plumbing work waiting for parts. I should have just ordered it directly from Coral Vue, and that is why I can't recommend it here.
Read before buying By Mike on 4/21/2018Mike wouldn't recommend this product to a friendKnow that if you were looking to use this to redo your metric plumbing, this adapter is the same outer diameter as the respective metric pipe, so it will NOT simply connect to the metric pipe. It either needs to go in a metric fitting, or you would have to buy the coupler like Arman said. I ended up buying a metric to standard union from another site, which was quite expensive, but very high quality and more unions are always good.
Fits, nearly impossible to find By ryan on 4/17/2016ryan would recommend this product to a friendThese are so hard to find! Fits well. I got 40mm to 1 1⁄4" Metric to Standard PVC Adapter. It's schedule 80 so slightly flimsy, but works well.
Good but you need another fitting! By arman on 3/3/2016arman would recommend this product to a friendThese are great, I have a Red Sea S 650 which uses 32mm and 40mm Metric Pipe, I had to get a 32mm and 40mm adapter however, having said that YOU MUST also get another fitting which BRS does not offer. I called and told BRS to add that piece of info and to hopefully start offering Metric Couplings. I was able to buy them off of Coral Vue for under $2 each but the fact that you need them and BRS does not offer them and does not mention that you would need a coupling is a -1 star for me. Hopefully before you order this you read this so you order that other item so you are not left waiting another 4 days to do your plumbing! The Part # on Coral Vue's website is PVC-CPLG
Finally! By Dave on 6/5/2015Dave would recommend this product to a friendFinally a convenient place to find adapters for those metric PVC fittings especially associated with recirculating skimmers. PVC construction is of good quality and does the job.
Thank you for carrying these! By P in Mpls on 4/10/2015P in Mpls would recommend this product to a friendWorks perfectly to adapt the metric exit pipe of my Coral Vue Reef Octopus skimmer. Thank you for stocking these, BRS! Metric PVC adaptors are impossible to find in the US
Question#1: For the following product 20mm to 1⁄2" Metric to Standard PVC Adapter SKU: 300260, what is the inner diameter and outer diameter measurement values (in mm units) of the adapter's 20mm metric side? I am attempting to adapt a Royal Exclusive media reactor inlet pipe (20mm outer diameter).
Question#2: For the following product 25mm to 3⁄4" Metric to Standard PVC Adapter SKU: 300261, what is the inner diameter and outer diameter measurement values (in mm units) of the adapter's 25mm metric side? I am attempting to adapt a Royal Exclusive media reactor inlet pipe (20mm outer diameter).
I appreciate your response.
The Metric side of the PVC conversion adapter will be labeled as the outside diameter. The 20 mm to 1/2" will be 20 mm outside an slip / glue into a coupler which needs to be a 20mm inside diameter coupler. The inside diameter of the 20mm will not fit into the 20 mm od pipe on your royal exclusive. the inside diameter of the 20 mm will be around 16 mm. For the 25 mm adapter this is not one we would recommend as the 25 mm side is the same diameter as a metric 25 mm pipe and will need a coupler to attach. The inside diameter is around 19mm. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!
Not sure I'm clear on what I need. I have a Red Sea Reefer 250. My drains are metric. The backup overflow pipe is a 25mm "outside diameter" and the main overflow pipe is a 32mm "outside diameter" pipe. Do I need the below SKUs or do I....... also ........need a coupler/pipe with this as the inside diameter to join them my current pipe to these couplers?
300261 - 25mm to 3/4"
300257 - 32mm to 1"
With what you have described the OD needing to be 25mm the SKU 300261 (25mm to 3/4") will be perfect!
The 25 mm side of this adapter is the same OD as 25 mm and can be glued in place as long as you have the bulkhead to glue into. The 3/4" size will actually be female slip and accept a 3/4" piece of PVC pipe to be glued in it. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!
Do you have anything that will allow me to connect the 25 mm O.D. return nozzle on my Red Sea Reefer 525 XL to a 3⁄4” LOC-LINE male NPT connector?
All of the conversion adapters we sell come with slip x slip connections, so you will need to adapt to a threaded fitting to use the loc-line npt fitting, but we do sell a conversion union here https://www.bulkreefsupply.com/vertex-conversion-union.html which would allow you to go from 25mm slip to 3/4" slip.
Hope this helps!
