Product Questions

I am having a custom sump built for this skimmer. I see the footprint is 17.5x11. Does that include space for the pump and any plumbing I may need? Trying to figure out how big of a skimmer section I need.
Question by: Tim R Prilucik on Oct 18, 2017, 11:32 AM
Hey there,
Thanks for getting in touch with us in regards to this skimmer footprint. This would be the square around the outer dims of the skimmer and would include all of its equipment in this area. Please let me know if there is anything else that we can assist with. Thanks!

I am curious as to what happens when the Reef Octopus SRO-5000INT is submerged deeper than the recommended sump depth of 6.5" to 12"?
Question by: Neal Fernandez on Jun 7, 2016, 11:02 AM
Great question!
if submerged deeper the water level in the body will continue to rise and cause the skimmer to overflow very easily. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!

can you tell me whats a better buy for my buck or what would be the difference between Super Reef Octopus SRO-5000INT 10” In Sump Protein Skimmer vs the Reef Octopus 10" Regal 250INT Internal Protein Skimmer...I want to purchase a reef octopus skimmer but cant figure out whats the difference between these two and which one would be a better buy.. Its going in a 340 gallon mix reef tank with a 64 gallon sump
Question by: Roland Martinez on Mar 22, 2016, 1:35 PM
Great question!
Both will be a great option!
For better control and tuning the Regal with a DC pump will work great! The DC pump does cost more but offers one more line of tuning. You can get great performance out of the SRO-5000 as well while saving a small amount of money. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!
