Why does BRS recommend this?

When it comes to UV most other companies will recommend a small UV for a large tank which in reality won’t do much more than make your water look a bit clearer.  If your ultimate goal is to keep bacteria, protozoa, and other free-floating pathogens at bay you really can't do much better than Pentair Aquatics for UV sterilizers.  With their real-world ratings, we have tried other UV sterilizers and really nothing else has come close.  Even though they are a bit more expensive than other brands, their performance makes them worth every penny.

Product Questions

Being that this unit is rated for 100g and under, the 1.5" slip union fittings seem a bit large for the plumbing system I will be creating. My return I believe will have 1" plumbing heading to the tanks 2x 3/4" return bulkheads...how do you suggest plumbing to the sterilizer? Is immediately reducing the unions acceptable? Thank you!

Hi there,

You can just use a reducing bushing to bring the union down to 1". They are found under out schedule 80 fittings.
