Nice Ballast By Greg on 2/13/2017Greg would recommend this product to a friendI've recently purchased (3) of these ballasts to replace my aging ballast on my 125 gallon reef tank. I was impressed with the quality of the unit. Very well built and rugged. As others have already mentioned in their reviews, the ballast is completely silent and only gets warm to the touch after many hours of operation. It also comes with a short male pigtail cord (approx. 6"). I have a long lamp cord with my reflector so all I had to do was to splice the male pigtail cord. No need to purchase any additional male lamp cord. I am 100% pleased with this product and BRS, and would recommend this to everyone!
Excellent ballast By Brian on 1/15/2017Brian would recommend this product to a friendI recently purchased this ballast to be paired with a Bimini Sun for my wife's 29 gallon BioCube as part of an upgrade( tired of LED) . This ballast is smaller than the older electronic ballasts I have on my large reef tank, fires the bulb extremely fast, only gets warm to the touch when it's been running for several hours, is dead silent, looks nice with its blue anodizing and appears to be built very well. I am very happy with this ballast and will be upgrading my other several year old ballasts to these in the near future. I run Ushio 20k bulbs on my tanks and the light produced from this ballast is substantially brighter and slightly bluer than my other ballasts. I experimented by putting this ballast on my other tank and did a side by side comparison and it yielded the same results ( brighter and bluer). In all I am very pleased with this product and BRS shipping was fast and the package came in perfect condition via UPS.
