  • Good mount, some cons By Steve on 6/20/2017

It's a nice and sturdy mount, however like a lot of other folks stated, I hate how Kessil can't find a better cable management system. It's crazy to drop a few hundred on your lights only to zip-tie the cables along the mount. The mount also puts stress on the glass, so be cautious of that. I also purchased the 90 degree adapter which SHOULD come standard with the mount already. Overall, good product.
  • Attachment is mediocre, looks stink By DanG on 6/17/2017

Functional but not perfect - I have 2 goosenecks supporting my 360WE's on a standard 90g tank. The frame of the tank protrudes in a way to render these almost useless. They apply pressure to the frame to the point of bending it slightly. Aesthetics leave a LOT to be desired since there is no place to hide the wiring. 3 stars b/c they do work, just not great.
  • Great product but some engineering improvements would help By TODD on 4/25/2016

Love the lights mount looks good. However as stated by others they could solve where you end up when using the 90 mount a small notch would allow you to start and end up so lights are correctly mounted also a cable sleeve would have been nice they are so cheap they could have included one.
  • kessil light By freeman409 on 2/24/2016

I'm very pleased with the light on my 50 gallon timeless reef setup.
  • quality light hanger By freeman409 on 2/24/2016

i was pleased with the quality but I was a bit disappointed in the height of the unit. I have a 50 gallon cube and I wasn't able to get the light high enough off the water to extend the light spread across most of the tank. I ended up using a hanger that allowed me to raise the light above the water another view inches. This supplied a lot wider spread of light across the tank.
  • Good but could be better By Greg on 2/10/2016

The idea and look are sound however I agree with most of the other reviews that there could be improvements. The wires for one should be hidden more effectively... certainly they could find a way to route them through the gooseneck. Secondly I bought the 90 degree option and they did not design the treads so that the lights turn to the "proper" or even the same location. This may seem like a nit but for the cost of the lights I would expect a little more attention to detail. I have two wide angles which have connections to the center but I have a third narrow beam which has a mount in the back of the light. If you use the 90 degree attachment the light is not centered on the gooseneck. I used washers to help alleviate this issue. One last thing is that the attachment screws for the bracket are too long. I had to cut them to fit since my tank is against a wall. Perhaps an assortment of screws could be supplied to suit different tank configurations.
  • Solid, easy to position By Eric on 1/23/2016

Great mount for my A360WE. Easy to position and stays in place, easy to install. Great for an open-topped tank. My only suggestion is using a cable tie to hold the power cord to the gooseneck isn't the most attractive option - I'd rather see some sort of simple clips or sleeve to make the wiring look more finished.
  • Works good, does not hold up well over long horizontal distances By jent on 1/23/2016

I have two of these now, both holding up 160WE's. While they both work well, they don't hold their height/position well when going over a large horizontal distance. I am only able to achieve such a distance due to their 90deg adapter. I can't imagine it would be able to hold the larger/heavier kessil's in the positions I am holding my 160WE's in.

My other gripe is with the plastic spacer that goes on the inside of the tank. It is too thick, it causes the weight to not only be placed a bit too far into the tank, it also forces you to have the bracket more visible due to it pushing into the tank. On my second one of these I ended up cutting the plastic spacer in half, and am MUCH happier. It allows my net to fit tighter, it makes the bracket less unsightly, and it also puts the gooseneck end directly over the glass.

All in all, these flaws can be lived with because I don't see a much better alternative except hanging from the ceiling (which has other disadvantages, for example I could not get the light angle I am getting now). So yes, I would definitely recommend if needed in the right situation.
  • Great way to hang your kessi! By John on 12/27/2015

I originally had two radions which I got rid of due to lack of acceptable looking hanging options. Hands down the gooseneck is an easier and better looking way to hang a light. I thought about taking off a star based on not including the needed L bracket but decided against it as not everyone needs it (although if you have a larger tank you do) and it originally coming out after the gooseneck. I don't think this hanging option even with the L bracket is overpriced (unlike the cables) based off a direct comparison with radions.
  • Missing Part By Clint on 12/2/2015

I have not had a chance to use the fixture yet as I need a C bracket to use the mount with my A150W fixtures. The current product pictures clearly show the bracket yet it is not included. I had to make a call to Kessil and they are shipping the parts to me free of charge but I have to wait an additional week for the parts. Very frustration!!!
  • Does the job By airmotive on 11/21/2015

As others have stated, it should come with the 90 degree fitting. Also, be careful if you attach this to your aquarium!! With a 24" arm, the gooseneck gives you a LOT of leverage on your aquarium glass. Bumping your light could be disastrous. I've attached two wood beams to the back of my tank to attach my two Kessils to, instead of the aquarium glass.
  • Looks good and easy to adjust By Sean on 11/2/2015

I have 2 kessils with goosenecks on my 220 gallon reef. Looks way better than hanging from ceiling.

Product Questions

will these fit over a 1" black trim on a standard 55 gal aquarium?
Question by: Nate on Aug 13, 2014 2:06:00 PM
Hi Nate,

The total opening of the clamp is 1 1/4" wide and the spacer block is 1/2" thick. The block can be slid in after the clamp assembly is over the trim so you shouldn't have any trouble using these on your tank.

I hope this helps!
Have a great day :)

What is the total length of the gooseneck?
Question by: Ryan on Jun 16, 2014 5:57:00 AM
The length of the flexible part of the gooseneck is about 24" if laid out straight. From there you can bend it to your liking.

Will it work on tanks with a lip?
Question by: Steve on Nov 27, 2013 5:52:00 PM
Hey Steve,
It sure will. The bracket is large enough to accommodate the lip on your typical tank.
Answer by: Bulk Reef Supply on Nov 27, 2013 5:52:00 PM

I know you said these will work on the "lip" of a tank. I have 3/4" euro bracing with a small lip. I am wondering if this will still work?

Question by: Michael on Feb 3, 2014 10:17:00 AM
Hi Michael,
The bracket on the goose neck will open up to about 1.25" at its widest. Its hard to say without seeing your tank but it sounds like that would work.
Answer by: Bulk Reef Supply on Feb 3, 2014 10:17:00 AM
Im wondering if this material is safe to go into the tank, ive watched soke YouTube videos reviews abut the light with this gooseneck and most people have a part of the clamp part in the water. I imagine its aquarium safe, but i just want to make sure.
Question by: Dylan Wilkinson on Nov 5, 2016 9:55:00 PM
Hey there, the clamp on this product is safe for the water. :-)
Answer by: Randy (Admin) on Nov 8, 2016 2:13:00 PM
Is the gooseneck fairly stiff? I have an outdoor tank in which I've built a small box to cover the kessil, weight is aprox. 2lbs. Will this cause the gooseneck to sag?
Question by: Zach on Apr 11, 2016 4:30:00 PM
Great question!
The Gooseneck is quite stable when mounted and this can hold several pounds. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!
Answer by: Connor (Admin) on Apr 14, 2016 11:33:00 AM
Will the gooseneck work with the kessil A380 grow light? It's listed in your description under that light however it's not listed under the goosenecks specs. Thanks!
Question by: TODD EOSSO on Apr 16, 2016 10:03:00 PM
Great question!
The Gooseneck will not work with the H380 light. Unfortunately the H380 will only come with eye hooks to mount it. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!
Answer by: Connor (Admin) on Apr 20, 2016 2:36:00 PM
Is this just the fixture? No lightbulb?
Question by: Jennifer Hoffman on Nov 3, 2016 2:40:00 PM
Great question! The light is sold separately. :-)
Answer by: Randy (Admin) on Nov 4, 2016 2:35:00 PM
This light suspension system looks great. Is it bendable? I have a 54gallon corner reef tank I'm building and it's difficult to find a light to adequately illuminate the tank. That being said, I'd need it to be flexible so I can position it in the optimal location.
Question by: Joseph on Jan 20, 2014 1:04:00 PM
HI Joseph,
The gooseneck bends quiet easily and is a great option if your looking for a flexible way to hang your Kessil.
