- Razor X R5 200W LED Fixture - Maxspect
Maxspect Razor X LED Light fixtures are made with the latest in LED technology, including Cree XT-E and XP-E LED chips that are distributed through 4 different controllable channels. Programming can be done through the onboard OLED control interface, or wirelessly with the addition of the optional Syna-G ICV6 Controller. Razor X Fixtures are made with architectural grade 6063 aluminum alloy keeping them lightweight, but also very strong while increasing heat transfer keeping the LEDs cool.
The LEDs selected for the Razor X were designed to help produce enhanced growth and coloration. Providing a full range of color keeps your corals growing fast, but also gives you the control to create the most aesthetically pleasing color combination for your reef. The Razor's spectrum ranges from all the way down to UV and super actinic 410nm LEDs up to deep red at 665nm and covers almost every color in the middle.

Great for tanks up to 40" long!
The Maxspect Razor X 200w is perfect for any reef tank up to 40" long and will provide enough light to grow almost all type of coral. If you have a soft or LPS coral tank the 200w module can cover tanks up to 47" long with the extendable mounting legs.
Maximum Coverage - 50" x 26"
Effective Coverage - 48" x 22"
Plug and Play operation means you do not have to purchase any additional controllers or software to operate and program the Razor X LED Fixtures. Each Razor X features an OLED monitor and control dial where you can easily program, and customize other settings and features of the LED fixture.
Wireless Control (optional)
On top of the onboard programming, every Razor X can be connected wirelessly to the Maxspect Syna-G ICV6 Connect Controller (sold separately) which will let you program and control each light from any Android or iOS device with the Syna-G app.
If you need multiple Razor X fixtures to cover your tank, you can connect 2 or more through the master/slave mode to control all of them through a single source. Just program the master and all the slaves will follow the master's program, saving you time, and eliminating possible programming mistakes.
Intelligent Temperature Control
The built-in temperature control system for the Razor X line of LED lights starts with the overall design of the light. As cool air is drawn up from underneath the fixture then flows through the body helping dissipate heat from the LEDs passively. The large body/heatsink is assisted by fans that help regulate the temperature even further. The fans will automatically engage when the temperature sensor reads over 131°F and will shut off when the temperature falls below 113°F keeping the operating range for the LEDs in a safe zone for a long reliable life.

Tuning Your New LED Light
Most LED lights will actually put out more light than your corals will actually need and without a PAR Meter to test the overall output, it is really hard to guess if the light is too dim or intense. We highly suggest using a PAR Meter to test the output of your lights at different points throughout your tank that you can use to tune the lights output or know where to put specific corals.
Follow up By Rashien on 7/6/2019Rashien would recommend this product to a friendReally impressed with this light. Corals are responding well and believe I've found just the right spectrum. Everyone will push you to the other brand but this is perfect for me.
Initial reviews By Rashien on 6/27/2019Rashien would recommend this product to a friendJust purchased two of these for my 180 gal mixed reef. Had metal Halide and t5 setup so trying to cautiously acclimate these on the tank. There are power so not worried about penetration into the surface. Just slowly ramping them up ten percent weekly (Currently @52%) to get corals uses to the color spectrum and intensity until I find the proper setting I want. There are easy to use and control. I purchased the controller unit so you can control lights away from units. Will provide another update later but 4 stars for now.
Great light By Vernon on 4/23/2018Vernon would recommend this product to a friendI have had this light over my 90gal tank and is the few weeks and I have noticed that my corals have all enjoyed the new light. They all have extended their polyps more and gotten a lot of their color back. The light does need to be tweaked in its schedule for lighting but can be easily done.
Easy to use By Britt on 1/19/2018Britt would recommend this product to a friendThis is going on a new tank build..24 x 24 x 48 euro braced tank. so dont know how corals will react yet. But 1st impression are great. Easy to set up with 4 pre-programed 24 hour cycles for softy, MIX, LPS and SPS. Love how it looks on the tank. Nice low profile. Light gets very bright on SPS setting. Overall I'm happy with it. Will update once corals are in the tank.
Bright!!! By Gelo on 1/18/2018Gelo would recommend this product to a friendI got this for my 48' aquarium replacing a Chinese black box. Its a bright light, I will update this review as times goes by. Set-up is much easier with maxspect ICV6.. Also the light is not black its like dark gray and flat.
The box is all beat up I guess due to shipping, but the light is ok due to the Styrofoam box inside.
Would this fit a 48” tank with the supplied legs?
That fixture will fit a 48" long tank with the included legs! Have a great day!
Is this Light Apex Ready? If so or if not, do you have a list of other lights that are Apex Ready.
This light is not Apex compatible unfortunately, however you can find a list of Apex-ready lighting here: https://www.neptunesystems.com/apex-ready/. I would personally recommend with the Kessils with the dimmable aquatic life T5 or Ecotech Marine LEDs.
Happy reefing! :)
Does this light have the 120 degree optic already installed?
These lights do not come with the 120° optics (just the standard 90°), but you can find them purchased separately here: https://www.bulkreefsupply.com/maxspect-r420r-razor-led-120-reflector.html.
Happy reefing! :)
How tall is the unit with the legs installed?
Thank you for reaching out to us. The fixture is approximately 6" tall with the legs.
Please let us know if you have any further questions and take care!
Is there some sort of reflector to keep the light from shining out?
Thank you for reaching out to us! There are no reflectors/shades for these lights outside of setting these inside of a canopy. However the Recurve by Maxspect can be tilted back towards the tank at an angle to aid in preventing light from spilling out in front of the tank.
Take care! c:
