Looks Nice By DH on 5/25/2020DH would recommend this product to a friendI am using 40.5" MULTI-LIGHT RMS TRACK supported on either end by drilling a hole and mounting to two articulating arms in a corner. I have three Radion XR30 Gen2's mounted with 3 of the newer G5 Mounts. I have also added two 3D printed moonlight holders. RMS Track is sturdy enough to mount these 3, without any obvious issues. I would suspect that once you get over the 50" track that bowing would start to become apparent if suspended from the very ends (based on what I see with my 40" arm). The track looks nice, and Ecotech has made mounts for this, that are expensive for what they are BUT, they are all designed to work together and do look nice. I do wish the system allowed for removal of items without sliding all the way off the end. I have 5 things attached to mine and have to sequentially remove things to get them off of the track. With the finned side of the track opening up there is not a good way to clean them without taking everything down. I wish the Radion's had a plug at the light for servicing.
Longer tracks bow in the middle By preston on 11/14/2016preston wouldn't recommend this product to a friendBRS is great and this review does NOT reflect their service.
I ordered the 90.5" track to put over my 96" aquarium with 4 Radion XR30w Pro lights. The documentation states that this track can fit up to a 98" tank. I have everything put together and the track bows about 2" in the middle of the tank. I reached out to Ecotech support and this what they said, "Unfortunately, since the rail is 90.5'' long, and due to the weight of the Radions, there will be some bowing in the rail." Their tip is to make the screws are tight (obviously). This bowing takes away from the clean look that most of Ecotech brand offers.
If you have a 6ft or larger tank, I would look at something else, you will not enjoy the way this looks.
RMS system is easy, convient, and sturdy By Carole on 12/3/2015Carole would recommend this product to a friendGreat system! It is easy to set up (but takes 2 people). You need the RMS arms, slide mount (for each light) and the RMS rail. It was a bit heavy for a 6' and 3 light system. Very sturdy
Great way to mount multiple Radions By Dave on 10/27/2015Dave would recommend this product to a friendThis the track is a great way to mount multiple Radions! It's easy to place the lights where you want them, and it's easy to adjust position after the fact any time you want. Unfortunately, you have to buy mounting brackets for each light you have, but the track system is convenient, effective, and aesthetically-pleasing.
My only complaint is the way BRS ships the tracks. One end of the 80.5" track was slightly damaged (cosmetic; not enough to impair functionality or warrant a return) due to poor packing by BRS. Definitely not up to BRS's usual standards.
Sleek and functional By Dennis on 10/17/2015Dennis would recommend this product to a friendThe light track is a welcomed way to hang the Radions over then tank! Fairly easy to assemble and versatile ... allowing you to space and place the lights the way you want!
The MAP pricing keeps the dollars spent as a non-factor but the customer service at Bulk Reef makes a BIG difference! First rail arrived damaged and there was absolutely no problem getting the replacement sent out ... FAST! Great job guys!
If I were mounting inside a canopy, could I directly screw the track to the wood canopy? then use the RMS mounts on the lights?
If my tank is 6ft long (72"), should I get the 60.5" track with the arms? Or the 70.5" track?
You will need the 70.5" track. The RMS arms on either side extend 3-4" into the tank and even with that the 60.5 would be fairly short. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!
Are there any feet that come with the RMS track, or is it for hanging only?
The Track can be used with feet, they are sold separately however. I have attached a link to the feet below. Let us know if you have any further questions.
Can the rails be attached to the regular xr30 mounting arms? I already have 2 of those and don't want to buy a new set of mounting arms just for these rails.
What is the weight limit on the longer rails? Can you put 4 or 5 XR30 on the 80.5"? I don't want to see any bowing in the rail.
These can handle the weight however they do bow quite a noticeable amount even on smaller 50". If bowing is an option you can consider instead hanging the rail with multiple support hanging kits.
Have a 120 which is 48 length. Should I get the 40.5 or the 50.5?
The 40.5" will work to tanks at a maximum length of 48.5" and would just barley fit. However can still work as long as the Total Width of the tank is under 48.5" The 50.5 would have a small amount of track overhang on the RMS mount. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!
