What's In The Box

What's New on the A3 Apex Pro?

Upgraded Base Unit with Audible Alarm & New Ports

By listening to hobbyists and using the data available via Apex Fusion, Neptune Systems configured the A3 Apex Pro base unit to include the most valuable probe ports according to its userbase. This resulted in the addition of four fluid monitoring sensor ports and a built-in audible alarm!

That's right, your Apex base unit can now deliver an audible alarm to notify you right away when something needs attention on the tank. Combined with the new sensors, you now have the ability to monitor the water level and detect a leak right out of the box and you can add flow sensors or optical sensors (sold separately) to suit your specific needs via the new ports!

The A3 Pro base unit still includes the same variable speed/dimming ports, AquaBus ports, switch connection, probe ports (ORP/pH, Temperature & Salinity), ethernet connection, and auxiliary power port as the previous model so you won't be losing any bit of capability over previous generations.

To physically differentiate the A3 Pro base unit, it's coated with a rubberized soft-touch finish. It's the same finish that we saw on the SKY LED unit and gives the unit a premium look and feel.

New Sensors

New Sensors

Just like the upgrades to the head unit, Neptune Systems looked to the reefing community to understand what features hobbyists value most. Instead of the previously included salinity probe, Neptune Systems now includes two brand-new sensors that expand the monitoring power without taking away from the system's capabilities.

  • LLS - Liquid Level Sensor
  • LD-3 Optical Multi-Surface Leak Sensor

The new sensors connect to the base unit via any one of the new fluid monitoring ports.  The LLS is the most advanced liquid level monitor to date and essentially acts like a ruler that gives you real-time measurements of the water's depth. You can use this LLS in a variety of ways around your tank but perhaps the most valuable application will be monitoring the water level in your sump or filtration chambers. You can set multiple alarms for any water depth you like and even trigger your return pump to slow down or turn off should the water level get too low.

The optical leak sensor is worth its weight in gold because ultimately a leaking aquarium is the worst possible scenario for any tank owner. Should this unfortunate scenario unfold, you now have the means to be notified right away and then correct the problem before it's too late.

New temp probe

New Temperature Probe

The new temperature probe is something worthy of note because it is much more streamlined than previous temperature probes and matches the profile of the 1/2" diameter pH and ORP probes. No more struggling to find a probe holder that is compatible with an awkwardly bulky probe because the new temperature probe will now fit into any probe holder!

New Fusion Experience

The initial connection and setup of the A3 Pro in Apex Fusion is incredibly easy and virtually unchanged from previous Apex systems but you do have the added benefit of improved tasks. Right away, Fusion automatically serves up a variety of preconfigured tasks that cover everything from your heater setup to sending yourself emails making the customization process easier than ever before.

Unrivaled Control and Tank-Saving Protection

Of course, Neptune Systems did not want to take away any of the control and expansion capabilities that make their Apex system the most widely trusted aquarium control device on the market. You still get the reliable EB832 energy bar with additional AquaBus, 1Link, and 24v DC ports to expand your system and control all of your devices.

The built-in power monitoring is incredibly useful for not only monitoring power to your aquarium but also keeping a close eye on the performance of your life support equipment.  Combine that with the Fusion Heartbeat feature and you can be notified whenever your tank is at risk of suffering from power failure or faulty equipment.

Did you know the EB832 is the only ETL/UL Certified controllable power bar that is suitable for aquarium use? Safe and reliable control for your reef can only be found with Neptune Systems.

The A3 Apex Pro is 100% backward compatible with all of your existing Apex modules and devices and the expansion possibilities of your system are near limitless. A single A3 Apex Pro can handle multiple EB832 devices as well as an almost endless number of additional modules and Neptune Systems accessories so even if you have multiple tanks, just one A3 Apex Pro is all you need.
