Today we'll be talking about a common aquarium pest called Cyanobacteria, or Cyano for short.

A lot of people think Cyano is a type of algae, but it’s actually a photosynthetic bacteria.

Cyano outbreaks are caused primarily because of elevated nutrients and insufficient water circulation. These conditions then allow Cyano to grow rapidly and out-compete other beneficial bacteria and algae in your tank.

There are a variety of ways to combat Cyano (also referred to as Red Slime) and we'll be discussing them all in today's episode!
