Reef Octopus VarioS DC pinwheel skimmer pumps deliver refined control, performance, and efficiency.

DC skimmer pumps have some key advantages over traditional AC pumps. Aside from near-silent operation, the VarioS skimmer pumps allow you to adjust the air and water flow rates through yuor skimmer with the push of a button. With this, you can tune your skimmer's performance to match your tank's bioload and get optimal waste removal. On top of that, these skimmer pumps include a float switch that allows you to shut the skimmer pump off when the waste collector is full, or if your sump has reached a high or low water level.

Third Party Control

There is a dedicated port on the VarioS controller letting you directly connect your VarioS pump to any third party controller through a 0-10V reference port. Controlling your pump through a controller like an Apex lets you create your own flow profiles and get the absolute best performance from your skimmer while also integrating other safety features of the controller.

Having a pump that lets you directly attach a float switch is a major advantage. The float can let you set high or low points in your sump, skimmer cup, or display tank that will shut the pump off when the float is activated.

The VarioS controller includes a waterproof 3-conductor union that connects to the pump creating a safe and detachable connection.

Product Questions

I have a Reef Octopus Regal-250EXT skimmer.
Are there service parts available for these pumps? I am looking for a service/rebuild kit for an RO-DC-5500S skimmer pump.
Is my only option to replace the entire pump/controller?

You will need to check with CoralVue directly to see if there are any rebuild kits available. That isn't something we carry.
