A fancy ATO Reservoir might seem redundant or unnecessary but the reality is, they are quite handy and can even help save your tank in the event your ATO goes haywire. Having a small, dedicated reservoir to store freshwater allows you to store the water relatively close to the aquarium without creating an eyesore. The small size means that even if your ATO fails and empties out the entire reservoir of water, your only adding what the reservoir can hold. Not to mention, the clean aesthetic of a welded acrylic box also sure beats an ugly 5-gallon bucket or carboy parked next to your tank stand.

Trigger Systems Crystal Series ATO Reservoirs not only look great but have some great additional features that give them a leg up. They are available in both a 5-gallon and 10-gallon size which should be used on tanks up to 100 and 200 gallons respectively.  There are two 1/4" diameter holes drilled into the top of the reservoir to feed your ATO water line right through the top of the reservoir. There is also a large rectangular opening which makes it easy to drop in your ATO pump and refill the reservoir without making a mess. To "top it off" there is a snug lid with an acrylic handle that fits over the rectangular opening to help prevent evaporation.
