An Auto Top Off container is perfect for holding a fixed amount of top off water. An appropriately sized ATO reservoir would be able to supply your tanks ATO needs for a few days if not weeks, while not being too large to cause a big salinity swing or flood the sump if the top off pump were to get stuck on.
Most auto top off units will come with a pump that will need to be in the reservoir to pump water to the aquarium. The Trigger ATO units come with a super wide opening to allow a pump to be placed in the reservoir while having small 0.25” holes for the tubing to be routed.

Love it! By "It's so easy!", they said.. on 9/20/2017"It's so easy!", they said.. would recommend this product to a friendSo you could use just about any type of container - rubbermaid, buckets or otherwise - but unless you are on a tight budget, why would you?! I love how neat & organized this reservoir is & that because of the snug fitting of the included tubing it holds the pump securely at the level you place it in the reservoir. I also love that you can quickly glance & know if it needs to be filled. Wish they came in even larger capacities!
Very nice, but...for the cost it should not warp. By Don on 6/10/2017Don would recommend this product to a friendI bought this container in January of this year, in that time it has developed a warped opening, the acrylic has curled upward by maybe an 1/8-3/16. The lid now rocks on the container opening and you can see a gap. I appreciate this is minor, but for the cost I expect greater longevity. Some may recommend returning it, but the folks at BRS have taken care of me with a couple other issues and I just don't want to be that guy. I can live with the warp, just an FYI to those considering it. This does look very nice and is well build, overall.
Good Packaging By Tony on 4/16/2017Tony would recommend this product to a friendThis comes well packaged with each side corner top and bottom supported perfectly by styrofoam corners with a superb fit in the box. The seams all look especially clean and I have no doubt this will last the life of the tank.
Awesome By Chad on 3/27/2017Chad would recommend this product to a friendGlad I purchaded this. The guys at BRS are amazing and always very helpful
Overdue Purchase By William on 2/13/2017William would recommend this product to a friendI have been limping along with two 5 gallon plastic jugs as my containers for the ATO. They were a pain to fill without making a mess, and were not clear. This activity was also hard on the back.
This Crystal reservoir has a large opening which makes filling from my wheeled 32 gallon RO container a snap. My ATO pump hose is bigger than the drilled 1/4" holes so I just ran the hose through the cord hole in the lid opening, it is big enough for the 5/8" hose and the power cord to fit through and I am still able to close the lid.
Easy setup and looks great. I should have started with this.
Gotta have it..disappointing that 6 pieces of acrylic cost $145.00 By chris on 2/25/2016chris would recommend this product to a friendIt is what it is. If you got to have a top off to your ATO then this is the cheapest out there. Ashamed that 6 pieces of acrylic glued together cost $145.00 but I shopped around and BRS was the cheapest. Its better and slimmer than my 10gal quarantine tank though which is what I was using before.
Great product By timothy on 1/14/2016timothy would recommend this product to a friendIt does what it says. It holds water and along with the 36in sump they both fit neatly under my 4ft wide stand
