Trigger Systems has taken your feedback on their Platinum lineup of sumps and stepped them up to the next level with the new Platinum V2 systems. So, let’s go over some of the features that make Trigger Systems and the Platinum lineup special, as well as what’s new on the V2 systems.
Whether you want to run filter socks, filter floss, chemical media, biomedia, or a fleece roller, the Platinum V2 sumps give reefers a lot of options when it comes to building out their filtration system.

Updated Filter Sock and Fleece Roll Area
Starting from the left, the whole filter sock and fleece roll area has been updated. This new system allows you to use either a filter sock, a filter tray, or you can drop in the Platinum fleece kit for ultimate filtration.
The filter sock chamber is nice and sleek with an included sock cover to help reduce noise.
If you go for the optional filter tray, your filtration capabilities expand quite a bit. You can use it for:
- Biomedia
- Filter balls
- A bag of your favorite chemical media
- Stacked filter floss
That gives you a more customized filtration chamber depending on how you like to run your reef tank.
Optional V2 Fleece Roller
The new optional V2 fleece roller has a built-in screen to configure a bunch of new options and uses optical sensors for accurate rolling and reliability.
The input from your overflow also has a new gasket, which helps prevent that unsightly salt creep from building up where all your bubbles are flowing.

All the Bells and Whistles Up Top
Moving to the right, the top frame has all the bells and whistles you could want:
- Four probe mounts
- Four dosing tube holders with included bulkheads
- Sleek black tubing
- Two cable management brackets
- Two locations for an emergency drain mount
There’s also a really cool movable center brace. So, no matter where you’re putting your equipment, there’s no annoying brace in the way.
Movable Divider for More Flexible Space
Inside the primary chamber is one of the standout features of the Platinum V2 design: a movable, or even entirely removable, divider with the Trigger Systems logo laser cut into it for your water pass-through.
That means no more wasted space in your skimmer chamber.
This movable divider allows you to maximize your refugium space by butting it up to your skimmer or reactor. Or, if you want to run a ton of gear, you can remove the divider entirely for the maximum amount of space.
Adjustable Baffle and Media Platforms
Further to the right, you have the adjustable baffle to fine-tune the water level for your skimmer and really get it dialed in.
The water height measurements are engraved right onto the baffle, making it easy to see where your water level is set.
You also have dual acrylic platforms right after the adjustable baffle. These help diffuse bubbles, but they can also give you a place to add bagged filter media if that’s your thing.
