Professor Polyp’s Bubble Bath is a coral dip that takes a different approach than many of the dips reefers have been using for years. It is designed not only as a coral dip for new arrivals, but also as a solution that can be dosed directly into the aquarium to help address nuisance algae.

Instead of relying primarily on oils, iodine-based formulas, or potassium permanganate, Bubble Bath is built around a patent-pending hydrogen peroxide and limonene-based oxidizing solution. The goal is to target both common coral pests and nuisance algae at the same time.

How Bubble Bath Works

Where Bubble Bath separates itself from many other coral dips is in the way it works.

Most coral dips rely on ingredients that irritate pests and encourage them to release from the coral, allowing you to rinse them away. Bubble Bath uses a different approach by combining hydrogen peroxide and limonene with vinegar, RODI water, and sodium hydroxide.

That formula creates an oxidizing reaction that you can actually see during the dip as bubbles form on the coral and frag plug.

A Coral Dip for New Additions

At its core, Bubble Bath is used before new corals enter the tank. Like other coral dips, the goal is to reduce the risk of introducing unwanted hitchhikers that may cause problems later.

That includes pests like flatworms, nudibranchs, red bugs, bristle worms, isopods, and even asterina stars that can sometimes hide in frag plugs, coral bases, or other small crevices.

By dipping new coral before it enters the display tank, reefers can add an extra layer of protection to their inspection and quarantine process

Targets Pests and Nuisance Algae

Because of its oxidizing chemistry, Bubble Bath is designed to break down cellular structures in both plant and animal irritants. That means it can help deal with common coral pests while also addressing nuisance algae that may come in attached to frag plugs.

This can include things like hair algae or bubble algae, which sometimes hitchhike into a reef aquarium on the plug itself.

So, Bubble Bath is not only targeting pests on the coral. It is also helping clean up some of the unwanted hitchhikers attached to the frag plug before they ever reach your tank.

Use It as a Coral Dip

Bubble Bath works as a quick, effective dip for new corals before they enter your aquarium. It's a simple way to help remove common pests and address nuisance algae before they have a chance to make it into your display tank.

Tips for Best Results:

  • Animal pests are eliminated immediately, while algae and plant-based pests will break down over the following days.
  • Allow corals to retract before dipping.
  • Bubbles forming on the coral indicate it's working.
  • Gently agitate the coral or solution for full coverage.

Dose It Directly to the Tank

Bubble Bath is unique in that it can also be dosed directly to the aquarium, giving reefers added flexibility beyond a standard dip-only product.

When used as directed, in-tank dosing is safe for livestock and can help:

  • Reduce nitrates and phosphates
  • Control nuisance algae
  • Support coral growth and coloration

Targets common algae like hair algae and bubble algae while leaving most desirable macroalgae unaffected. Expect noticeable results after 6–8 weeks of consistent use.
