Quick Overview

Why does BRS recommend this?

The Digital Aquatics Reef Keeper Lite is a great little aquarium controller that makes programming very straight forward and easy.  The options are somewhat limited compared to other controllers on the market, however if you are looking for a simple, easy to use controller, with the availability to be expanded upon, the Reef Keeper Lite units are some of the best.

Digital Aquatics ReefKeeper Lite or RKL comes in 3 different levels. They are small expandable and perfect for nano tanks, beginners, and everyone looking for a mid level controller. ReefKeeper Lite's are easily the best value controllers on the market. See below for quick compare chart of the differences between each RKL.

ReefKeeper Lite Plus Features

  • Head Unit

  • 2 PC4 power bars (8 total outlets)

  • Digital Aquatics Temperature probe

  • ReefKeeper SL1 pH and ORP Module(Inputs: pH, ORP, Temperature, and 2x Switch Ports)

Product Questions

Do you know if reefkeeper will be able to control a diy Steve's led retrofit for a biocube? I have a typhoon controller on it right now.
Question by: Aaron on May 11, 2014 4:33:00 PM
Hi Aaron,
I am unfamiliar with that setup but so long as it has the ability to use a 0-10v input line to control the LED's themselves then you shouldn't have any problems with the reefkeeper, though keep in mind you need the ALC module.

I want use this for control of the power heads but is TUNZE the only brand that is compatible?
Question by: Dan on Aug 30, 2014 1:22:00 AM
Hi Dan,

By using the APC module you will be able to connect Controllable Tunze pumps.
I am not aware of any other pumps supported by this module but it is possible that there have been adapters released to control other DC power heads.
I would also take a look at the ReefKeeper DCI DC Pump Interface. It may work for what you have in mind.

I am sorry I couldn't be of more help.
Have a great day :)

Would this be good to run on a 20 gallon reef?
Question by: Me on Oct 24, 2013 3:12:00 PM
Hey there,
I actually have a controller running on my 16g here at the office. Despite the size of the tank, there is just some equipment you never can really get away from like heater, timers, etc which really makes a controller a great choice for just about any size aquarium and it would be a great choice for your tank.

  • Good product and service By Pablo on 11/8/2015

This is an excellent low-priced monitor and controller. The manual is poorly written, and that's why I'm giving it 4 points, otherwise very good. Bulk Reef Supply have an amazing service, quick delivery and everything easy, highly recommendable.
  • Happy By Ken on 10/2/2015

Need better instructions with device. Had to watch Youtube and BRS videos to get everything up and running and calibrated correctly. After getting all going it controls everything great. Still need to find how to control wavemakers for more run time.
  • Simply Amazing! By Steve on 6/26/2015

I love how easy this controller makes it to monitor your parameters and adjust settings. It makes controlling and running your tank and umpteen gadgets a breeze. It seems a little pricy up front but when you consider how many products it combines into one its totally worth it. It's also very user friendly to set it up and connect all your equipment to it.
  • Like but with a few issues By Robert on 11/5/2014

I think overall this is a great product. It's very easy to setup even though the instructions could be a little better. I had a problem with the SL1 and contacted the company VIA email since calling didn't work well. After 9 days I finally received a tracking number for my replacement SL-1. They were great helping me troubleshoot it but slow to ship the replacement. The cable from the TEMP probe is cheap and could be better made. Once I plugged in my SL-1 everything worked great but I'm still getting an I-Temp error and I'm waiting on a response from DA. Also, it was easy to figure out how to setup a heater but after playing with it I finally got it.
  • Not worth it!!! By Raymond on 10/22/2014

I've had my ReefKeeper Lite Plus for a year now. I still can't get it to work properly. Some things go off and I can't turn them back on. The controls are not user friendly. I'll never by this again
  • good product for price By David on 10/13/2014

The reefkeeper is a good controller for the money. Poor instructions from manufacturers. Thank you brs for making a video on this I would have been lost without it
  • Excellent Customer Service By logan on 9/15/2014

This is my second review of this product. I have given it a better review this time around after dealing with their customer support. Their response to the issues I was having were quick and knowledgeable. After resolving for most of the issues they shipped out a replacement part for the final one at no cost. I would definitely recommend this company to fellow reefers!
  • wish I bought it sooner By mikee on 8/26/2014

My main focus was for the temperature control as I had my heater, the best one I could buy, stick on only to find my tank went from 77 to 90 the next day when I got home from work...
After hooking it up I was even more glad I bought it. It cleaned up all of my power strips, wave maker timer and other timers.
Very happy I bought it !
  • Great Product Poor Instructions By logan on 8/13/2014

The product works exactly as described. The only major issue is the complexity to get it, along with additional modules set up. The user experience of the myreef2.0 software is poor and it takes lots of youtube and forum searching to get a handle of.
  • great product By Bryan on 5/16/2014

This is a great value for the price. Works flawlessly. Easy to install and configure.
  • very disapointed By ed on 4/24/2014

I had problems out of the box and had to contact tech support for replacement components. Digital Aquatics Tech support did not answer the phone. They did not return calls. They did reply to one of the emails I sent. and they did send a replacement part (ground).

It is not plug and play. It is plug and search the forums for answers. Most of the documentation of the web site is very old. The web site is very poorly organized.

As for the MyReef 2.0 Software I found it worthless. I had trouble establishing communications, I had to turn off several times for the system to stabilize.

I think another one of my components is jacked and that is why it is not working for me. But I have had enough.

    Poor quality control, terrible documentation lousy support;
