How To Install The Value to Universal RODI Upgrade - BRStv
In a normal 4 Stage Value System setup the single Universal Carbon Block filter will do most of the work to remove a majority of the chloramines, however the longer the system runs the more chloramines will be able to work through the filter. This is known as chloramine breakthrough. In most cases a majority of the chloramines are capable of passing straight through the membrane which depletes the more expensive DI resin prematurely. Once the DI resin is depleted, you could then be adding a mixture of chlorine and ammonia to your aquarium.
Our Value to Universal Upgrade Kit will add a second Universal Carbon Block to your Value RO/DI to polish the water and ensure that if any chloramines were to breakthrough, the second filter will catch them. For example if your carbon block was allowing ten percent of the chloramines through, the second carbon block would remove that 10%.
This kit also includes an additional DI cartridge which allows you to remove trickier elements that require longer contact time like phosphate for example. Ideally with the dual DI setup you would be able to keep the second canister full of fresh DI continuously by swapping the second stage to the first stage and adding a brand new fill to the second stage.
Installation is super easy! The kit includes two RO canisters, a couple brackets, eight screws, four quarter inch Murlok push-connect fittings, some tubing, and a 6 Stage Universal Filter Kit. Everything is preassembled so there are no tools required.
Simply mount a canister on each side of the unit with a few inches to spare for tubing connections.
Once the canisters are mounted, shut off your RO/DI system, disconnect the water feed line from your system, and connect it to the first canister. You now have a new sediment filter housing! Then connect your new sediment canister to your RO/DI system with a short length of tubing.
On the opposite side clip the already attached tubing so you can insert it into the intake of your second DI canister, and place the other end of the purified product water line into the out of the second DI.
Lastly put the sediment filter in the first canister, your two carbon blocks in the housings on the body, and the DI in the final canister. That’s really all there is to it!
