https://www.bulkreefsupply.com Today on BRStv, we have another episode of BRS 52 FAQ where we answer all of your frequently asked reefing questions from our popular 52 Weeks of Reefing series.
This week we are answering E's question from Week 13: "The Seneye seems very useful. If an alarm was triggered on it indicating an ammonia spike...what actually would be the plan of action? Water changes or an additive?"
The shortest and quickest answer boils down to the source of ammonia. You will want to locate the source, and eliminate it.
There are a few different things that could cause ammonia to spike in the tank. Generally speaking, a spike means that something has perished in the aquarium, the tank was overfed or food was inadvertently dumped into it, or something has affected your biological filter, rendering it unable to process ammonia.
In most cases, you will want to develop a plan of attack tailored towards the cause of your specific spike. Unfortunately time is a factor, so your ability to act quickly will increase your chances of successfully navigating through it.
So follow along as we answer today's question, provide some helpful insight, and help make reefing just bit more fun and easy for you and your tank.
