There is No Faster Way To Turn Bare Rock Into Beautiful Coralline Encrusted Live Rock!
Purple Helix Coralline Algae is a truly unique product that contains multiple species of live coralline algae spores and nitrifying bacteria in a single solution. Unlike many other coralline algae accelerators that are mostly just calcium and other elements, ARC Reef's Purple Helix contains live algae that will populate on your reef tank's surfaces to create a vibrant purple crust over your rocks. Coralline algae has multiple beneficial effects for your saltwater aquarium, from discouraging nuisance algae growth to providing a habitat for beneficial bacteria and other microscopic creatures. Pairing Purple Helix Coralline Algae with Pink Fusion will give your tank a very natural coralline algae look much quicker than any other method.
We recommend using 8oz of Purple Helix Coralline Algae per 50 Gallons
- Unique 2 in 1 formula contains both live coralline algae spores and active nitrifying bacteria.
- Every bottle includes 7 separate species of coralline, this maximizes the color variations and varieties that will populate throughout your tank.
- Purple Helix blend algae strains are highly epiphytic stains that will help to outcompete other nuisance algae and diatoms.
- Effective in improving water quality by controlling ammonia and nitrite levels.
- Aids in rapidly establishing your tank's biological filtration using fresh multi-strain bacteria bottled on the day that it is shipped.
- 100% all-natural formula. No sulfur, copper, or phosphates.
- The highest concentration of beneficial nitrifying bacteria which remove harmful nitrogenous waste.
- Establishes a natural organic balance in your aquarium.
- Helps cycle new fish tanks and eliminate new tank syndrome.
- Safe for use in all reef tanks and with all species of fish and coral.
Special Note - Purple Helix from ARC Reef is bottled fresh and never sits on a shelf for more than a couple of days, at the most. Since it is a live substance, it is necessary to use the contents within 14 days of the bottling date that can be found on the side of the bottle.
Step 1 - Turn off any filters, sump pump, protein skimmer, and UV sterilizer if equipped. Leave powerheads on.
Step 2 - Shake bottle vigorously, as algae spores will start to adhere to the inner walls of the bottle during shipping.
Step 3 - Pour entire contents of the bottle into your saltwater aquarium. (If the bottle is cold, bring to room temperature).
Step 4 - Refill ½ to ¾ of the bottle with aquarium water then repeat steps 2 & 3, (we recommend doing this 3x’s).
Step 6 - Wait a minimum of 2 hours before turning all equipment back on.
Most reefers will start to see colored spots appear within a couple weeks however it can take up to 3 months before effects can start to be seen. Coralline algae does not grow super fast and patience is a virtue when it comes to any saltwater aquarium, but making sure that your tank parameters are in the correct ranges and steady can help accelerate the growth (see tips below).
Types of Coralline Algae Included with Purple Helix:
Hydrolithon, Neogoniolithon, Porolithon, Lithophyllum, Lithoporella, Sporolithon, and Hydrolithon sp.
Ingredients - Purified seawater, lab-cultured coralline algae spores, nitrifying marine bacteria (heterotrophic, chemolithotrophic and autotrophic), calcium carbonate, potassium carbonate ion buffer.

PRO TIPS FOR FAST GROWTH!
Raise your Temperature. Coralline algae grows very slowly, its growth rate is approximately 10x’s more rapid in tropical waters than in the Arctic. If the temperature of your tank is below 78 °F. then increase the temperature to 78-82 °F. this will increase the reproductive growth rate by nearly 15% Make sure to keep the temperature stable with a heater controller.
Aquatic Life Loves Stability and so Does Coralline Algae. You must keep your water parameters stable through regular monitoring and water testing. Smaller more frequent water changes are preferred over larger less often water changes, this helps eliminate any shock to the spores. Salinity and PH are the 2 most important parameters to keep stable.
More Frequent Water Changes. You should be doing regular water changes at least twice monthly. Nearly every problem can be fixed with a water change. High nitrates? Water change! Cloudy water? Water change! Nuisance algae? Water change! Got ick? Water Change! Are corals shriveling up? Water change! Spending all your money on corals? Ok, well that’s one that a water change can’t fix but for nearly everything else, a partial water change will fix, or at least give you more time to find the problem. Your aquarium is a closed system and can easily be put off balance.
Have Patience. If you’re new to the hobby this tip will save your hard-earned cash from being flushed down the drain. Only bad things happen overnight in this hobby. Add livestock slowly and never change anything quickly. It’s best to think of your aquarium like a very old man, it doesn’t adapt well to change (and at times can smell like an old sock!).

The ONLY good way to seed your tank By TJ on 2/23/2020TJ would recommend this product to a friendHave used this in multiple tanks with good results. Far better results than getting scrapings from a friends tank since that will only be 1 species of coralline and you don't know if that is a good species or not. Seeds faster than the usual method of snail and hermit shells too. My one tank started with dry rock, had zero coraline algae after 2 years, 2 months after adding this I woke up 1 morning to colorful spots all over the bare bottom glass, and powerheads. Have used this in multiple tanks after that with success, sometimes showing up sooner. Might not be for beginners though as coralline requires stable parameters which most noobs don't have, too quickly of changes to your tank will cause coralline not to grow or even kill it. Works great but you also need to be patient, it doesn't grow overnight that is for sure, can take 2 months for the different colored spots to show up but well worth the wait since they are nice shades.
Worked for me By LDC3000 on 2/16/2020LDC3000 would recommend this product to a friendI used 3 purple and 1 pink bootle of this on my tank which is somewhere around 180 gallon water volume. I noticed purple and pink specs of coralline around six weeks. This is a lot safer than getting scraping from someone else’s tank as some else mentioned in their review. Look what happened to the BRS 160 from doing the same thing.
It does work well By Duane on 1/21/2020Duane would recommend this product to a friendI had some rubble and snails with coralline spots, but it just would not spread. It was this way for 8 months. About 1 month after adding this I could see some little spots, especially on my black overflow. After 2 months I have dime sized spots everywhere and more popping up all the time.
Baker By richard on 1/14/2020richard wouldn't recommend this product to a friendSave your money this is the same stuff you can get off of rubble from your local store or a friends tank . And this stuff does not work well at all
Worked for me By Eric on 1/7/2020Eric would recommend this product to a friendThis stuff worked for me. Took about 8 weeks I believe.
never noticed results. By Anthony on 1/1/2020Anthony wouldn't recommend this product to a friendI have tried this product on two different tanks. One that was about six months old, and a newly established tank. I never observed any significant coralline growth in the first tank, beyond what was already there. And never saw any new coralline growth in the new tank, even after several months. I would say there are better ways of seeding coralline.
When is the best time to introduce coralline algae to a new tank?
You would want to wait to introduce it until after you start dosing a calcium component for your corals.
