We are now transitioning all ordering of Neptune Systems, EcoTech Marine, AquaIllumination, Bulk Reef Supply Wholesale, and all of our Aperture Exclusive Distribution Brands to the new Aperture Business website (aperturebusiness.com).
If we have not yet moved your account, we need your basic information to complete that transition.
Paul from Neptune Systems joins Will on BRStv to answer all your Neptune Systems and reefing questions LIVE on YouTube. Whether you having a burning question about your A3 Apex or the best way to cycle a reef tank, we've got you covered.
Is there going to be a Sky 2?
Neptune Systems did not confirm or deny specific future products. Paul explained that, per company policy, he cannot comment on products they may or may not be working on.
That said, we are always developing new and exciting products and there are most definately some exciting new products on the horizon. What kind of products would you like to see Neptune Systems develop?
Why did the EB8 get updated to the EB832, but the EB4 didn’t get an upgrade?
Paul explained the Energy Bar lineup history: the classic Energy Bar 8 (EB8) is no longer in manufacturing, the EB832 is included with Apex systems, and the EB4 has not been made for a while.
What’s a key benefit of the EB832 compared to older energy bars?
A major EB832 benefit is per-outlet power monitoring. That allows you to set alerts if a device isn’t pulling its normal wattage, which can help spot issues like a heater not working properly or equipment performance changing over time.
My LLS doesn’t seem to last in RO/DI water for my ATO. Is there anything I’m doing wrong?
Paul recommended calibrating and setting up the LLS in the same container and orientation where it will actually be installed. Avoid calibrating it in one location or position and then moving it to a different vessel or height. If issues continue, he encouraged contacting Neptune Systems support, noting they can do screen shares to help troubleshoot.
Is it a good idea to use ChatGPT or AI to get advice for a reef tank?
Paul said AI can provide helpful guide rails, but results depend on source information, which often comes from mixed-quality web and forum content. The recommendation was to apply critical thinking, cross-check with vetted expert sources, and use AI as a tool that can help you move faster while still validating the advice.
When will I be able to adjust the timeline and data shown in Apex Fusion graphs?
Paul said Apex Fusion displays a limited window of data (he referenced roughly 60 to 90 days) and explained that logging intervals can be adjusted, with 10 minutes as a common default. For longer-term records, he noted you can export or harvest data (including via XML) and referenced the Apex Comprehensive Reference Manual on Neptune Systems documentation for details.
I’m deciding between Hydros and Apex. Why would Apex be the better choice?
Paul highlighted Neptune’s long history and ongoing improvements to the Apex operating system, plus a broad ecosystem of products designed to solve real aquarium problems. He also noted Apex can support both simple, guided setups and advanced, highly customized configurations.
Are Neptune Systems developing any new products?
Paul said he cannot discuss specific products in development, but shared that the team stays very busy and is focused on bringing out innovative devices that help aquarists be more successful.
