Did you know that mysis shrimp are an invasive species in Lake Okinagan (where PE Mysis is harvested from)? The shrimp were introduced to the lake decades ago in an attempt to feed the salmon population but the population spiked and proved to actually do more harm than good to the local salmon population. PE Mysis sustainably harvests these shrimp from the lake, freezing them within hours of their harvest to preserve the highest quality food possible. The shrimp are harvested at night while they are feeding which results in a shrimp that is "gut loaded" and extra full of nutrients. The end result is a high quality, intact, gut loaded food. They have recently finished developing a pellet food as well which should be on the shelves this fall.
