Piscine Energetics Calanus are harvested from pristine arctic waters and make a great coral and small fish food. Their bright orange coloration stems from the high levels of astaxanthin along with other carotenoid pigments. Using the same flash-freezing process as the famous PE Mysis all the nutrition is bio-encapsulated within the zooplankton making it a great food for fresh and saltwater tanks.

Highly nutritious Calanus are a zooplankton that is highly desired by fish, invertebrates, and corals. They are great for target feeding corals as well as other filter feeding organisms with their small particle size the PE Calanus is easily digested and broken down into precious energy for the animal. The minimal particle size is attributed to the unique stage that the Calanus is at in their life cycle when they are sustainably harvested.

Fish - It is recommended to feed no more food than what your fish can consume in a 1 minute period of time, multiple times a day. It is best to fully thaw the cube and broadcast throughout the water column. With smaller aquariums, the cube should be proportioned accordingly.
Coral - PE Calanus can be used for target feeding or broadcast feeding. Feed only as much as your corals will consume in a single feeding session. With smaller particle food it is best to feed very small amounts multiple times a day over a single large feeding. When feeding corals it is best to put a very small amount in the water column a few minutes before to activate the natural feeding response from corals, then target feed the corals with a pipette or similar tool.
NOTE: Handling a frozen food that is derived from a live animal can cause the same allergic reaction possible by handling the live animal itself. To avoid potential problems, always wash your hands immediately after use and avoid contact with your nose and mouth prior to washing.
Pipefish chow By Cannedfish on 12/19/2017Cannedfish would recommend this product to a friendRecently introduced a blue stripe pipefish to my IM10. Having not seen him eat frozen, and worried that I would run out of pods I have been supplementing live pods three times a week. Someone suggested I try this, and after a few tries the pipefish has been readily and happily eating PE Calanus, which is a huge relief. Much cheaper that live food. Would highly recommend.

Excellent By RandyT on 11/30/2016RandyT would recommend this product to a friendII have a large 5" Square Anthias. This is a must have product. I simply place a frozen piece of Piscine in the "Gourmet" fish feeder and walk away. The combination of the two is priceless in my opinion. My Square Anthias Is beautiful in color and plump!
Very Good Frozen Food By Jared on 8/25/2016Jared would recommend this product to a friendI have a mixed tank of tangs, pygmy angels, a sweetlips, clowns, cardinal, damsels and fire fish along with LPS corals. Several months ago, My LFS guy said I should give this and the Calanus a try as he was very pleased with the results. So I did and I am very happy with the product. I feed a cube of this in the morning and then one at night with the Calanus. I love the fact that the shrimp looks very fresh and the fish absolutely devour it. I believe there color is brighter, and have noticed a slight increase in their size as well, especially the sweetlips. There is no cloudiness associated and there is less waste because the pieces are whole. The LPS also become very active with the Calanus and there color and grow rate has improved since I stopped using cyclops. I docked one star because it is expensive. I buy the twin pack for $27. Highly recommend.
