Today on BRStv, we have a brand new episode of our series, BRStv Investigates. In this series, we explore popular reefing theories, products, methods, and what the manuals are missing, with a focus on putting them to the test! We are taking a deep look into reef lighting and investigating what should we consider PAR baselines for SPS corals. Over the next few months, we will be testing almost every light on the market to help you determine what lighting intensities may be best for your reef tank. We took a couple of well-known light fixtures that we have seen grow SPS corals and put them over our 120 Gallon ReefSavvy Lighting test tank to see what kind of PAR measurements we got. Putting out PAR meter through multiple tests at different points and depths throughout the aquariu we found a few interesting readings, but ultimately everything was pretty much as we expected. Between our testing and using information from well-known hobbyist that have years of light testing. We now have a great baseline for the intensity that SPS corals may prefer and with these numbers, we can now start to venture into other types of lighting systems from T5 to LED. So make sure to follow along as we keep investigating reef tank lighting and help you select the perfect light for your aquarium. *Legal Stuff* The purpose and content of this video is to provide general information regarding the products and their applications as presented in the video.
