Excellent By Steven on 6/26/2018Steven would recommend this product to a friendThis is very easy to use and I love the compact size! It takes a little bit to take off but once it starts you’ll have pretty stable levels. Thanks again BRS!
awesome Innovative Marine Media Reactor By Tim on 5/1/2018Tim would recommend this product to a friendI have gone through 2 very expensive bio bead reactors..neither one of them were fun to use...they always failed to tumble the beads after a few days... This little media reactor is the CATS ASS!! I can add beads without even turning the thing off! So access is EASY!!!
ANDDDD if I want to adjust the flow I just turn the knob on the top....I was wondering if it would have enough power it has MORE THEN ENOUGH power to tumble the beads! I am just thrilled with it! Full Marks Innovative Marine!!!!! AGAIN!!!!
Would not buy again. If you do, replace pump and use large medias By Scott on 12/19/2017Scott wouldn't recommend this product to a friendWhen this is working it appears to work pretty good, but it’s just a pain. It’s been impossible for me to not get carbon all over my tank (BRS ROX Carbon) when changing media.
I know how to do it but some still escapes from the reactor given the size of the small carbon i am using. Black sponges also hard to clean old carbon from.
And in a little less than a year mine started sending some current into my tank so much it shocked me. Has been unplugged ever since.
Using in a nuvo 20, cannot recommendation anything better but would not recommend this.
pump went out By Brian on 6/20/2017Brian would recommend this product to a friendive gone through 2 pumps in 6 months. not happy with the quality of the IM pumps. i glued a sicce minni pump on there now and works well.
Works well once you know... By Troy on 12/12/2016Troy would recommend this product to a friendThis is a positive reveiw but I would like to give people my experience so they know what to expect and don't get frustrated with a great product.
I have a Fusion 20 and this reactor is built to fit my tank which it does nicely. I put it in one of the second chambers. I bought the reactor to run GFO which I had been using in a mesh bag mixed with carbon.
When I first unpacked the reactor and plugged it in the pump failed to start. All I had to do is give it a bit of a thump and it worked just fine. This is not uncommon for small motors that have been shelved for a while IME.
I rinsed the BRS GFO and put it in the reactor, however, the reactor lets small bits through so you have to be careful to wash out the smaller fraction of the GFO, not just the dust. I ended up with quite a lot of small bits of GFO in my tank while I was calibrating the flow and it is clear that this is due to the variable size of the GFO.
I have seen a few people saying they have trouble dialing this reactor in for GFO. I think it is important to note that there are two means of adjusting flow. First, the flow switch on the pump itself, which I have quite low. The second is the rotation of the media tube, and from what I can tell I have in the off position in order to get the correct gentle tumble we look for with GFO.
In a month, when I change out the GFO, I will pull the whole reactor out, not just the media tube, and flush the GFO using the waste water from my water change. I will do this with the pump and media on full blast which will drive the small media out of the reactor and into the waste water. That way I won't end up with a bunch of small GFO bits in my sand.
Overall I am very impressed with the function of this reactor for tumbling GFO in a small size which can work well with AIO and the recommended quantities of media.
Great design By Tim on 1/28/2016Tim would recommend this product to a friendLove this product and best on I've owned to date. Super easy to set up and change GFO or carbon and the design looks great also. Wish I had this earlier to deal with changing GFO.
Awesome! By Brian on 2/23/2015Brian would recommend this product to a friendGreat little media reactor! Fits perfect and looks great on my Nuvo! Only problem I have with it is that a few days after changing the media the pump will start to make noise, guessing from added resistance as the media gets dirty! other then that its great!
Excellent little unit By Scott on 5/13/2014Scott would recommend this product to a friendI purchased this unit for my nuvo 16 and I couldn't be happier. It fits perfectly into the filter area. This was designed specifically for the Nuvo models and the pump is extremely quite because of the intimate fit with the Nuvo models. I would think it could be used in other aquariums or sumps and the footprint is small enough for tight applications. I am running both carbon and GFO at the same time- not the most efficient but changing out the little amount of GFO I use sooner than I need to is not a huge issue for me. My water has not looked better and my corals -SPS- are happier than ever.
Well made & perfect size but it rattles! By Mike on 12/16/2013Mike would recommend this product to a friendI use this in the sump on my 25 gallon cube and the Minimax Desktop is the perfect size. It is well made, easy to adjust, and easy to load. The only problem I have with it is that it rattles and the pump is louder than I would like. It is definitely a keeper though.
Perfect for my BioCube 29 By Jaculus on 12/11/2013Jaculus would recommend this product to a friendWhile it is perfect in size to fit in the back of my BioCube 29 I found the main advantage of this over many of the other smaller "nano" size reactors is that this one stays in the back of the tank while you change the media. It's very easy to change the media. Just watch the videos. The price was more than the other small nano reactors but worth the extra $$
GOOD PRODUCT! By Jonathan on 11/21/2013Jonathan would recommend this product to a friendI got this for my 29G BioCube because it fit in the back and has no external plumbing. The size is great and the operation is easy. I am disappointed as the little thumbscrew that pushes against the reactor to keep its height stripped out while I was getting everything set up. I'm simply using a zip tie around the reactor to act as the thumb screw which makes it slightly more of a pain to remove but that shouldn't be too often. Overall great product.
great product! By Deyan on 11/17/2013Deyan would recommend this product to a friendThis media reactor is the perfect fit for nuvo 16 not only looks great but works great! All in all I was more impressed by the support of BRS
My item was damaged during shipping & other errors but in the end of the day, bulk reef supply showed me a side to their company which often not seen now days, Excellent customer support no run arounds nor a hard time to get my problem resolved. I can honestly recommend these guys to a friend or someone in the reef hobby.
Also the vids from youtube are quite informative. Thanks again BRS, Deyan Font, Homestead,Fl.

Can the mini max or any other small reactor be used for zeovit rocks? thank you in advance
Can I run bio pellets in this and is big enough for a 75 gallon with 30 gallon sump
this would be much too small and clog very quickly with bio pellets. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!
Would this work as zeovit reactor and fit in my IM 25 Lagoon?
This will absolutely fit in the compartment and absolutely will not work with Zeovit media. (For Zeovit you will need a Zeovit reactor) Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!
How deep does this reactor need to be? Just up to the top of the pump/bottom of the reactor? Or does it need to be fully submerged?
I would submerge as much of this reactor as your installation option allows as this will help reduce head pressure on the pump and improve performance/flow through the media. That being said, I am currently running one with about 10 inches of the reactor body above water with no problems.
I hope this helps!
Have a great day :)
What GFO would you recommend for this reactor?
Just the standard GFO should be all you need with this reactor (if your tank was big enough to necessitate the HC, you would be needing a different reactor).
The manufactuer states that the pump must be submerged and not used out of the water, does that mean the entire reacter must be inside the tank?
The pump does need to be submerged and this reactor really wouldn't function externally as the water exits out holes located in the bottom of the reactor and can't be plumed to a different location. If you want something external something like a BRS reactor would be more along the lines of what your looking for.
