It's Week 33 of 52 Weeks of Reefing, and this week we are demystifying the world of Trace Elements, as well as reviewing pH and how it affects your reef. Trace elements are essentially ions in your reef tank that are in comparatively lower concentrations in contrast to calcium, alkalinity, magnesium, chloride, sulfate, and sodium. There are many different trace elements in our water, but the most abundant are ions such as iron, manganese, molybdenum, nickle, copper, cobalt, chromium, phosphorous, selenium, tin, zinc, and vanadium. So follow along and we'll help you decide if trace element supplementation is right for you and your reef! Are you already dosing trace elements? If so be sure to vote in our Viewer Poll and let us know your preferred method!
