JBJ Launches New Nano Arctica E-Chillers

JBJ has released the new Nano Arctica E-Chillers, and we're excited to say that they're now available on our site. These compact chillers are built specifically for nano aquariums and are unique in being a completely compressor-free cooling solution.

Compressor-Free by Design

Unlike traditional aquarium chillers that rely on a compressor, the Nano Arctica E-Chillers take a different approach. Instead of a compressor, the thermoelectric design utilizes a large heat sink and fan to cool the water. It's capable of lowering the aquarium water temperature by up to 9-11°F, depending on the ambient room temperature.

The benefit here is no compressor noise, lower energy consumption, and an overall smaller form-factor, making them a great fit for desktop tanks, living spaces, and offices.

And just look at the dimensions. As far as chillers go, these things are TINY!

Feed Pump & Plumbing Kit Included

Each Nano Arctica E-Chiller comes with a pump and plumbing kit to push water through the chiller. These pumps aren't anything fancy, but are properly sized when the chiller is placed near the same level as the chiller's intake and outlet tubing. In this configuration, there is very little head pressure on the pump to reduce water flow, so a powerful pump isn't necessary.

If you'd rather have the chiller under your aquarium with the intake and outlet up top, you'll just need to upgrade the feed pump to meet the recommended GPH rating for your particular chiller model (Max of 78 GPH and 118 GPH for the 10 gallon and 20 gallon models, respectively).

Easy Temperature Control

Despite the "E" notation, these chillers don't connect to an app and rely on an easy on-board control system. To be honest, in an age of "everything has an app and smart control" this is refreshing. Just three buttons on the top of the chiller do it all.

Exciting Times for Nano Aquarium Owners

Most aquarium chillers are built for larger systems and are often too big, too powerful, and simply impractical for small tanks.

The Nano Arctica E-Chillers are purpose-built for aquariums under 20 gallons, a category that continues to grow in popularity as hobbyists gravitate toward smaller, more manageable, and more budget-friendly setups.

As a nano-focused reefer myself, I'm glad to see manufacturers developing solutions that specifically target our smaller aquariums.
