Today on BRStv, we have a brand new episode of our series, BRStv Investigates. In this series, we explore popular reefing theories, products, methods, and what the manuals are missing, with a focus on putting them to the test! Today we are taking a look at growing chaetomorpha algae. There has always been a debate on how large of a refugium you may need, and if they even work as your tanks main nutrient export system. We are keeping an eye on the pH, Nitrate, and Phosphate levels in each tank while we feed and add nutrients to each tank to see how the algae works in a refugium type setting. We have the algae growing under different kinds of lights that are marketed with a spectrum to grow algae like the Kessil H380 and the PAR38 Refugium LED. We have been growing the algae in test tanks for the past 30+ days monitoring their growth and tracking their ability to lock up nutrients. We are going to keep running this test for a little while longer and make sure to follow along while we share our results. So follow along as we investigate today's question, provide some helpful insight, and help make reefing just bit more fun and easy for you and your tank. Be sure to watch and keep an eye out for future episodes as we keep growing the algae, and monitor the results. Join us below as we discuss the topic further on Reef2Reef! *Legal Stuff* The purpose and content of this video is to provide general information regarding the products and their applications as presented in the video.
