Triton method cost - Time to add up how much it costs to run a triton method reef tank - BRStv Reef FAQs
One of the first questions we get when discussing the Triton Method with our customers is “How much does it cost?”. We came up with some clear figures to share with you in order to help you make the right choice for your tank and budget. To justify paying a premium for something, it needs to deliver results and deliver those results better than the rest. The Triton Core 7 is one of the only calcium, alkalinity and trace element solutions designed for use with a refugium or algae scrubber and the resulting uptake of elements and nutrients. When looking at total costs of running the Triton Method, outside of the Core 7 base elements, you also need to consider the individual element additives and ICP test kits. Then look at how all of this balances out with the reduction in salt mix costs as a result of less frequent water changes. Triton Method Core7 Base Elements A few weeks ago we looked at the cost of various two part solutions.
Keeping a healthy reef tank with regular water changes creates a significant demand for your personal time. Add in water testing, dosing and filter maintenance and your reef tank can quickly turn into a dreaded chore. The facts are, most aquariums depend on water changes to survive and nobody likes hauling around heavy buckets of water to perform them. In fact, outside of failing equipment, the number one cause of tank failure is the lack of necessary routine maintenance because of the burden and demand for time. The Triton Method of reefkeeping makes it possible reduce your tanks reliance on water changes and, therefore, the demand on your personal time. We can confidently say this is possible because of what we learned through the BRS160 video series in which we used the Triton Method to drastically reduce the tanks dependance on water changes. How The Triton Method works Water changes are necessary to prevent the toxic build
In this week's BRStv Investigates: Tank Trials episode, we get a long awaited update to the BRS160 and also discuss the answer to last week's question about the Triton Method being a ULM approach. Stick around to the end, you won't want to miss who's hosting BRStv next week! If you are interested in trying the Triton Method on your tank, we have everything you need! Interested in the Gyre flow pattern we created in the BRS160? Ryan has more info about it in the video below. Along with that, we've posted the Neptune Systems advanced programming for it as well. In this BRStv Spotlight, Randy explains what the Core7 Reef Supplements are and how to implement them on your tank! If you aren't using the full Triton Method for your reef tank, Triton has created the Core7 Reef Supplements for Other Methods so that you can still get the benefit of concentrated major, minor and trace elements for your tank! Can't use the full Triton Method but still want to dose their 4-part solution of major, minor and trace elements? Then Reef Supplements for Other Methods may be for you! The major difference between the Triton Method and the Triton 4-part Reef Supplements, is that the latter does not include key elements for purposefully growing algae or using algae as a primary filter in your tank. This formula allows you to use the balanced major, minor and trace elements without a refugium as a primary filter. Stay tuned as we continue to provide you with Spotlights on your favorite reef gear and strive to go beyond the bullet points on the packaging
Today we explore how the Triton ICP/OES tests and the Triton Trace Base Elements can work for your tank, regardless of what reef keeping method you are using! In this BRStv Spotlight, Randy shows you how you can use the results from a Triton ICP water analysis to monitor elevated or depleted elements, as well as trends, in your saltwater reef tank chemistry. Whether you are using various forms of nutrient control, like carbon dosing, reactor media or even water change, a Triton ICP/OES test can really help to make sure your desired method is keeping up with your overall goals. With these series, we strive to go beyond the bullet points on the packaging and show you what this gear is all about! *Legal Stuff* The purpose and content of this video is to provide general information regarding the products and their applications as presented in the video. In this BRStv Spotlight, we’re exploring the entire Triton Method from Triton Applied Reef Bioscience. In this video we’ll help you figure out what you need to get started, how to accessorize the Triton Method to make it easier for you, as well as ways to start or convert your tank. So if no water changes and low maintenance are top priorities for you then the Triton Method is probably a great option! The Triton Method is an approach to modern reefkeeping where the primary means of nutrient control is a refugium and skimmer and you purposefully dose major, minor and trace elements in ways that bring your saltwater aquarium water to closely match natural seawater. Our goal is to get beyond the bullet points on the packaging and show you what this gear is all about! *Legal Stuff* The purpose and content of this video is to provide general information regarding the products and their applications as presented in the video. In this special episode of BRStv Investigates, Ryan is giving you the two and a half month update of the BRS160 after converting it to the Triton Method! Find out what went well, where we had challenges and how no water changes are working for us. Today on BRStv, we have a brand new episode of our series, BRStv Investigates. In this series, we explore popular reefing theories, products, methods, and what the manuals are missing, with a focus on putting them to the test! This week we finally get a long awaited update of the BRS160 reef tank and how it has been running on since we changed over to the complete Triton Method about 10 weeks ago! We release a new BRStv Investigates episode each Friday, so don't forget to hit that subscribe button to see what's coming up next! *Legal Stuff* The purpose and content of this video is to provide general information regarding the products and their applications as presented in the video. A lot has changed since the pioneering days of reef-keeping in the 1980s and 90s. Today the relentless growth of the hobbyist market drives our industry to develop the many new technologies and techniques that advance reef husbandry. While exciting, the pace and scale of this explosion in knowledge makes it difficult to understand and assess what best practice 21st Century reef-keeping actually means. Using insights culled from the world’s largest aquarium-testing database Ehsan Dashti will present a set of guidelines for the modern scientific reefkeeper. Practical examples will demonstrate: (1) how to be a better, science based aquarist, (2) how to recognize misleading marketing hype and save money, and, (3) how to be a better informed and more responsible aquarist. Ehsan is the founder and owner of TRITON Applied Reef Bioscience, founded in 2008 in Düsseldorf Germany and was the first company using cutting edge technology to analyze artificial and natural seawater for aquarium professionals an
It has been over two years since we started the BRS160 and we have been using the ZEOvit method without fail. Everyday dosing blue bottles and pumping the media has undoubtedly produced high growth and even better coloration, but this being BRStv we cannot just ride one system from here on out! We honestly have no reason to change from the ZEOvit system, but we have wanted to try our hand at the Triton Method of Reefing, with a refugium being the primary source of nutrient control. With all the information and data we have on how effective a refugium is with proper lighting and flow, we know this system should not fail. We are also very excited not to have to do any more water changes too! The Triton Method is based on accurate ICP-OES testing that analyzes what elements are in your water and try to match the levels in natural seawater. The best part of Tritons ICP testing is if you have any issues, they tell you how to fix it! Changing the BRS160 over from ZEOvit to Triton did take
This talk will focus on the exploration of chemistry and biochemistry of reef and aquarium ecosystems, their links and differences and their applicability to reef aquariums. The presentation will cover the high precision testing of seawater with a high throughput, Trace Elements in the Aquarium and their relevance, also compared to natural seawater of Flores Sea and Komodo. The conclusion will reflect on the changes to the point of view to reef keeping, regarding old and new techniques to mimic the natural habitat of corals.© 2020 Bulk Reef Supply. All Rights Reserved.
