  • Very loud. By Robert on 10/7/2017

I have a 6095 as the main power head in my tank and it's exceptionally quiet. I needed something small to supplement for a dead area in the aquarium. I decided to go with Tunze again so I could run them off of one controller in series. This nano stream has a very small footprint and blends in very well with my black background. I gave it such a low review because of its noise level. I can hear it from 8' away from the tank. It has a click every time ic cycles on and a loud hum while it's running.
  • Just one flaw. By Atoll on 8/9/2017

I have a 6040 running for around 6 months now. The only real criticism I can level at it is it needs a guard on the outlet as a black sea cucumber managed to get shredded in it but fortunately it does not seem to have affected the tank adversely. A simple guard with 3 bars would have prevented this happening, Why Tunze decided to omit a simple guard is a mystery. .
  • Love it By Monti on 7/4/2017

I use this in my nano tank and I love it! Super powerful and totally adjustable.
  • Great for nano tanks By Brian on 6/26/2017

Put this in my fluval evo and it works great with a low profile.
  • Loud By Anthony on 4/8/2017

Wide flow and good controllability, But it's quite noisey in wave mode turning on and off or pulsing. Even in the lowest setting it's loud. Not to happy with that considering it's 140 bucks and Jbo haven't somewhat similar controllability sleek for 60$ and are whisper quiet even on its highest setting.
  • Perfect for the frag tank By Join the Revolution on 3/29/2017

I have a dedicated QT/grow out acro tank and I needed controllable heavy flow. Well, Tunze delivers again. A great well rounded product -make waves, surges or constant flow. Yes, the nozzle needs to be removed to adjust and it can be a pain, but that's the price point. So value wise, A+
Also, I think the rest of the reviews need to stop pressing their ears up to the tank or turn down their hearing aids.
  • Great! By Spurned on 3/29/2017

We purchased two of these for a 40 gallon coral tank. One arrived DOA. Contacted BRS and they quickly responded with options. We ended up contacting Tunze, and after it was determined the motor was actually bad, they had a new pump shipped priority, with pre-payed return. Customer service was clear, professional and prompt with both parties and we am very happy with the purchase..
  • Great pump! By John on 8/8/2016

I have two in my nano and I really like them a lot. I use my apex to control them, so you have even more control. The nice thing about these pumps when controlling via the apex, you can control the overall output with the main power knob. Think of it as a output/voltage trim. Turned all the way up, the pump operates at 100% power, if it's too much, turn it down for even less power. I can't wait until I upgrade to a larger tank, these pumps will be making the trip. You can hear them kick on, but it's not loud, at least not to me.
  • A so-so pump with a big price tag By Mike on 5/4/2016

I bought two for my reef tank a little less than a year ago, and one is down for the count. They say in the owner's manual these pumps are "self-cleaning" and only need to be cleaned every two years or so. That is just completely untrue. You need to maintain these just as you would any other pump...it's marketing hype. The main problem I've experienced is the shaft coming loose and the impeller assembly being unstable slightly out of place as a result....which makes for a lot of friction noise and renders the pump nearly useless. Oh, and Tunze won't honor their warranty unless you have all the original packaging...so, yeah. Aside from that these pumps are rather noisy and the flow adjustment is very stiff, as others have stated. Overall it's a decent controllable DC pump, but I don't consider it a good value for the money.
  • Great product!!! By Chris on 12/20/2015

So glade I made this purchase. More then enough power for my 20 gallon long tank
  • Works as advertised. By SMB on 12/16/2015

Typical Tunze engineering. Compact and well made, but a bit noisy.
The rotating deflector on my pump is quite stiff and difficult to adjust. One actually has to remove the ring to reposition the deflector and that requires taking the pump out of the water. A little easier adjustment of flow direction would be nice.
  • Power, compact but loud By Jason on 12/15/2015

I really like the features that this little pump has. Programming it is fairly straight-forward and it does move a lot of water especially for its size. My biggest complaint is that it quite loud..I'm tempted to return it but I might play around with it a little more to see if I can somehow get the humming down to a manageable level.

Product Questions

Can this be controlled by an Apex without the included controller or is it necessary to communicate with an Apex? Thanks.
Question by: jason wells on May 28, 2017 11:23:00 AM
Tunze controllable pumps do still require the controller to connect to the Apex as the control cable plugs into the port on the bottom of the controller.

Have a great day!

Does the Turbelle Nanostream 6020 come with a controller it is not pictured so i am assuming it does not but i just want to make sure and can you buy a seperate controller for them
Question by: Troy on Oct 3, 2016 10:13:00 AM
Hey there, thanks for reaching out to us! The Tunze 6020 is not controllable. You can control it with an aquarium controller, but only for ON/OFF functionality. :-)
