Adjustable Skimmer Water Level

Protein skimmers can work at various water levels but may lack in efficiency. Tuning your sumps water level to the skimmers needs can dramatically increase the amount of skimmate produced. In most cases, reefers will put a stand under their skimmer to elevate it, but Trigger's Triton44 sump lets you adjust the water level inside of the protein skimmer section from 7" up to 9.5" with laser etched markings.

Adjustable Refugium Water Level

Triggers Triton44 sump features an adjustable refugium water level that lets you maximize the size of the refugium section while keeping things quiet. Depending on your flow settings through the refugium, and your protein skimmers section water level, water noise may be created and by adjusting the refugium water level the noise and splashing through the baffle can be eliminated.

Algae Light Blocker

With the Triton method, they suggest using multiple types of algae and some of them may float. The Triton44 sump includes an algae block that keeps floating strings of algae from clogging and blocking the teeth of the next baffle. The blocker also helps prevent excess light from spilling into the skimmer section keeping algae from growing on other equipment.

Refugium Lid

Each sump comes with a perfectly cut clear polycarbonate lid that helps keep excess evaporation from occurring. The lid will sit on a flange, allowing it to sit flush with the top of the sump. The sumps bracing even has a notch cut that allowing most light mounts to attach without interfering with the lid.

Configurable Drain Pipe

Each Triton44 V2 includes a configurable drain adapter, that lets you place an additional drain pipe anywhere you want. If you have a bean animal drain system, place it in the skimmer chamber. Want to use it for your return plumbing? Place it over the return chamber. With simple thumb screws, the adapter plate can be moved or removed in just seconds.

Removable Drain Input Plate

Each Triton44 sump comes with three 1" drain inputs that are connected to a removable plate that can be unscrewed for service and cleaning. Using the drain plate keeps evaporation and salt creep buildup from happening, but can be removed if your plumbing requires different size plumbing or adapters. Each sump comes with a blank drain plate that can be screwed in place of the stock plate, allowing for custom hole sizes.

Probe Holder/Hose Inputs

Keep your probes and dosing tubings secure. Hold up to 4 probes in the skimmer section of the sump in the preinstalled probe holder. Each hole is countersunk to keep probes from falling through and one is enlarged to fit a Neptune temperature probe. Installing an included o-ring on each probe, you can ensure they will not fall further down into the hole. Dosing tubes can be secured into the included push-connect fittings that will dose into the return chamber of the sump. Each push-connect fitting will accept standard 1/4" tubing that is used with most dosing pump systems.

Media Platform

As water flows up through the final baffle, there is a tray that can hold media blocks, bags or any other form of media that you choose. Since the flow direction through the baffle will be pushing the media up, Trigger includes hold downs and a second platform that can secure your media right where you want it.

Practical Colors

The color choice of the Triton line of sumps was not by accident. The front of the sump is made of crystal clear acrylic and the back is all black allowing you to hide excess cords behind your sump. Many of the accents and the side walls are a translucent blue that adds a little bit of character to your sump without being too overpowering. The refugium section has black baffles keeping your refugium light from spilling out into other chambers of the sump and the pure white bottom of the sump helps reflect light back up into the refugium and lets you see when detritus is building up.

Product Questions

I know its designed to strictly utilize the triton method, but are there any fleece rollers that would be decently compatible with this sump and still leave a decent bit of space? I was thinking about a Red Sea ReefMat 1200, but I'm not sure how you would plumb it. Thanks in advance!
Question by: Robert Carroll on Nov 19, 2023, 11:13 PM
Yes, this would fit that filter roller in the refugium section. To plumb you would just need to connect an input into the filter roller, any other drains can go to the sump's pre-existing inputs.

Hi BRS Team,
After acquiring all of the necessary supplies/parts, I have officially got my new build(125g) up and running. I am going for an ULM tank. I purchased the Triton 44 V1 sump a few years ago and its what I am using on the new build. During the build process I noticed that Trigger Systems released V2 of the Triton 44 sump. Because I had the V1 sump passed the 365 day mark, you would not accept a return of my unused sump so I could swap for V2.

The V2 sump basically removed the first black baffle and added a triple filter sock holder. I want that triple filter sock holder so I can install it in my V1 sump.

I have contacted Trigger Systems inquiring if they will sell me the new triple filter sock holder that is used in V2 of the Triton 44 Sump. At first they said no because it wouldn't fit due to the first black baffle. I advised them I will modify the sump(at my own risk) to make it work. Communications started out well and they said they would sell me the piece alone. Now they are not responding. Is it possible for you to make me a custom triple filter sock holder that I can install in my V1 sump? I have already modified my sump in preparation of the filter sock holder that they said they could sell to me, but they stopped responding to my emails.

Thank you, your help is greatly appreciated!
