The RUBY series sumps are loaded with features and come with the trademark dark RUBY translucent red material. RUBY sumps have the same designs as the CRYSTAL but have the following differences:
- Same or slightly larger dimensions
- RUBY red coloring to block light and prevent unwanted algae growth in other sections
- Probe holder
Some additional features of the RUBY sumps are:
- Locking Filter Sock Holder
- Dual platforms (SUMP model)
- Adjustable Water Height (ELITE and CUBE models)
- Protein Skimmer section
- Refugium section
Adjustable Water Level
Water level in the sump is adjustable on the following RUBY sumps:
- RUBY20C Cube from 7” to 9.5”
- RUBY30E and RUBY36E Elite from 7” to 10”
This feature is to accommodate for the water height requirements for different protein skimmers.
All RUBY sumps come with a probe holder that can hold up to three probes. The holes are 0.63” in diameter.
Locking Filter Sock Holder
Filter socks snap and lock into the filter sock holders to secure the filter sock from falling out when it becomes clogged and needs to be cleaned or replaced. The 4” filter socks are 100 micron rating.
Draw String Tabs
Tabs are located on the top support brace in front of the 1” bulkhead fittings (which are included). The purpose of these tabs is to provide a location for tying off 7” diameter filter socks that have draw strings.
RUBY SUMP models come with dual platforms in the space before the return section. The top platform comes with a foam block filter and the bottom one is open to use for several different filtration methods (bag of carbon, bio balls, rubble rock, etc.). This feature is on the SUMP model only.
Awesome By Ken on 3/25/2018Ken would recommend this product to a friendI've had this sump tank for about a week now, and I'm loving it. I bought it in process of my tanks upgrade, and I'm so glad I did purchase it.
Great addition to my system By Mike on 2/6/2017Mike would recommend this product to a friendThe Ruby 36 is well built and easy to install. I have heavy bio-load 125 fish only tank. It added the needed water volume and space to help control nitrates. The 3 chambers work well. Be careful, I also added a Skimz Monzter 203DC which was a very tight fit in the 1st chamber. The only complaint, the filter socks are small get clogged up quickly and need to be changed out more often than I expected. Buy extra filter socks.
well built, well designed By NMichiganreefer on 12/20/2016NMichiganreefer would recommend this product to a friendeverything works well, water flows well. My only critique on the whole thing is a bit of stagnant surface water in the return section, easily solved with a very small power head
Great Sump By Brad on 9/28/2016Brad would recommend this product to a friendThis is my first sump.
So far so good.

So far so good.
Best sump i have owned By lqdKaos on 8/29/2016lqdKaos would recommend this product to a friendI have had sumps of various sizes and from various manufacturers. As I have grown in the hobby, my budget has increased. So in all honesty, my previous pumps were not necessarily high end. This was my first sump that I would consider high quality. The acrylic is thick and so nicely finished. Its made of 1/4" acrylic and the red looks awesome. It looks so good that I am considering leaving my tank stand open to show this thing off.
I have always had to compromise on the size of my filtration equipment due to the size of my sump. Now I have plenty of room to put almost any pump (purchased the ecotech vetex L1) and I can oversize my skimmner. I can't wait to get this set up.
BRS delivered my order super fast and well packaged. I am quite happy with this whole purchase and the service I received from BRS.
Great Sump By Jay on 5/22/2016Jay would recommend this product to a friendWorks damn good on my 150 gal reef..
Great sump By Nathan on 5/11/2016Nathan would recommend this product to a friendI had mine on my 120 gallon reef for almost two years. This has been the best sump I've owned. I don't get undesired algae growth outside the refugium section, the construction is as solid as the day it was new, and anyone who views my system loves its look, quality, and design. I use two sets of 4 in x 10.5 in ring filter socks that I clean and toss out and replace every 4-6 months.
Excellent Product By Rick on 1/21/2016Rick would recommend this product to a friendThis is a well built sump. Well designed and easy to set up. Plenty of room in each of the sections. The flow through the refugium section is uniform and not too fast. All in all an excllent product.
I love this sump refugium By Lunchbox on 1/19/2016Lunchbox would recommend this product to a friendSince buy this product it aloud me to grow so much in filtration and my growth in my corals has been insane love this product and would recommend it to anyone with a reef tank
Great Product By GainesvilleReefer on 8/30/2015GainesvilleReefer would recommend this product to a friendNice sump. I have had it for 2 years. Only thing I don't like about it is the non-standard bulk heads they use. You can get more of them from Trigger
My tank only had 1 drain. Will this still work
Will this be okay for a 150 gallon reef/fish tank?
This will work great for any size as long as you have a skimmer which will fit in the skimmer compartment! Feel free to let us know if you have any further question!
I have a old DAS retail system that has 3 85 gallon tanks (355 total) stacked on top of each other. They will only be used for fresh water and never salt. Would the Ruby Sump 36 be a good choice for this system. I am looking for a system with 2 filter socks for my over flow, big enough to hold my drainage in a power outage and a large enough pump return chamber so I have a large Min and max area.
this would be too small to hold access water and in addition may be too small to hold an appropriately sized skimmer.
