Dual Water Channel Design
Eshopps R-Series sumps feature unique flow through the separate refugium and skimmer chamber. The main advantage is that your skimmer can now uptake undissolved organics while your refugium can absorb nutrients like ammonia, phosphorus, and other unwanted nutrients without having to compete with each other.
The Eshopps R-Series of sumps has a unique flow pattern. Water first drains into the main drain chamber where a portion of the water will flow into the refugium chamber, and skimmer chamber completely separate. The skimmer compartment has a filter sock to help polish the water of any debris or detritus before entering the protein skimmer, where the refugium compartment gets completely unfiltered water. Keeping the flow paths isolated greatly increases the protein skimmers efficiency and also the growth rate of the refugium. Both chambers drain into the return pump chamber where water can be pushed back into the aquarium by your choice of return pump.
Refugium - 10" x 8.5"
Refugiums are great for holding macroalgae and other nutrient reducing organisms. Just add a refugium light to the R-200 for an efficient source of filtration. Lights like the Kessil H380 is a perfect choice.
Skimmer Chamber - 11.5" x 13.5"
Simply choose any skimmer that has a footprint less than 11.5" x 13.5" and you are in business. The large area lets you choose the best skimmer for your system's needs without having to compromise.

Good for Beginner By Boa on 4/1/2019Boa would recommend this product to a friendI am completely new to the hobby and so far very happy with this sump design. I would say it has 2 cons that some people will hate and others just wont care. 1. The return chamber is small and in the back. My tank is small so I didn't need a huge pump. The ato sensors and the pump are pretty crammed in there, but there is enough space for them to work correctly. I don't have much cabinet space, so i really appreciate the compact design and saving space anyway I can. Its hard to see water level in the return chamber since its towards the back, but I got a clip on mirror and it works perfectly. 2. There is a detritus trap zone in the back where the overflow PVCs are. It is impossible to clean back there properly. I insert a pump and suck everything but its hard to get in there. Other than that, i love it, its well made and its definitely a space saver with as many options as other more well known sumps that would not fit in my cabinet.
Return area too small By Kevin on 11/30/2018Kevin wouldn't recommend this product to a friendThe main problem I have with this sump is that the return area is way too small for a pump rated at 1500gpm. This is the size pump we need for a tank in the 150-225 gallon range. I'm having to make due with cramming my pump (core-20) and skimmer (Vertex 180i) into the skimmer area. There is now no room for hanging a probe mount or ATO sensors. The flow direction is effective but the return size kills any advantage you get from the design.
Should have bought a Trigger.
Love it, Clever Design By Charles on 5/31/2018Charles would recommend this product to a friendReally clever design, I gain appreciation each time I look at it. The small features are friendly and have built in safety. The circulation is unique
