AquaIllumination makes three main pump styles for reef aquariums: Axis return pumps, Orbit cross-flow pumps, and Nero powerheads. Each one is built for a different job, so choosing the right pump depends on what type of flow you need and where you need it.
Nero Powerheads
Nero pumps are compact powerheads designed to create broad in-tank flow without taking up much space. Their innovative propeller design pushes water in a wide pattern, helping keep food, detritus, and other suspended particles moving without blasting corals with a narrow jet of flow.

Orbit Cross-Flow Pumps
Orbit pumps create wide, gyre-style flow that helps move water around the aquarium in a more natural, circular pattern. Orbit pumps can be used as the primary source of flow in your aquarium, but are often used in conjunction with other powerheads like the AI Nero for a wholistic approach to in-tank flow.

Axis Return Pumps
Axis pumps are compact, controllable DC pumps most often used to move water from the rear filtration chamber of an all-in-one (AIO) aquarium back to the display. They also make for great general-use utility pumps or for feeding media reactors.
