Welcome to the future of aquarium lighting!
Combine your favorite LED Light module along with Aquatic Lifes T5 lighting fixture to create a stellar lighting system!

- Includes LED Light Brackets
- Powder Coated Aluminum Frame
- Individual T5 Reflectors
- Silicone T5 Sockets
- HEP Ballasts
Aquatic Life's T5HO Hybrid Lighting Fixture lets you combine your favorite LED light module between two banks of T5 lights. The T5 lights are powered by HEP Ballasts for fast firing and excellent color rendition. Each T5 lamp has their own reflector and is held in by traditional bulb clips that have a plastic coating to protect your bulb. Aquatic Life has even gone above and beyond by including silicone end caps that make changing bulbs super fast and easy.
When you combine LED and T5 lighting you can have the best of both worlds. T5 lighting has a proven track record with their full spectrum bulbs and edge to edge coverage, and almost anyone can have success with the right fluorescent lamps. Being in the 21st century everything we own must have some type of control, and that is where T5 fails, but LED shines. LED lights are known for their ability to ramp up and down giving dusk to dawn effects while being able to change colors and spectrums throughout the day as well. LED lights provide great shimmer, and when paired with T5 lights almost creates a realistic look that you would actually find in a shallow reef.
Pair the Aquatic Life Hybrid fixture with some of the most popular LEDs like Kessil, Ecotech, or Aqua Illumination for a successful combination of T5 and LED lighting. Each hybrid fixture includes two different mounts that can accept some of the larger lights like the Kessil A360 and Aqua Illumination Hydra FiftyTwo HD, but also some of the smaller modules like the AI Prime HD and Ecotech XR15w lights.

Tuning Your New LED Light
Most LED lights will actually put out more light than your corals will actually need and without a PAR Meter to test the overall output, it is really hard to guess if the light is too dim or intense. We highly suggest using a PAR Meter to test the output of your lights at different points throughout your tank that you can use to tune the lights output or know where to put specific corals.
Exactly what i wanted By Mitchell on 3/22/2019Mitchell would recommend this product to a friendI already had a new kessil and my old LED light was not what I wanted and some LEDs were going out. This works the way I wanted I do wish it had only one cord but I do see a valid reason for two so if you want to put each bank on a different lighting schedule. Took me a while to figure the slide mechanism on the cables you have to depress it to get it to slide. The instruction should explain how to adjust the cable length.
One of the best options on the market By Michael on 3/2/2019Michael would recommend this product to a friendI am in the process of co converting my FOWL tank to a reef tank.
BRS recommended this option and I couldn't be happier.
I paired up each 48" unit with two Kessil A360x LED units and the initial loom, and spread is jaw dropping. I tested the initial setup ATI Blue Plus, Coral Plus, Purple Plus, and Actinic Special bulbs.
This combination provides me with more options than I even though possible. Not to mention the the flexibility it provides down the road as the technology changes for the better.
Good Fixture By Ace Hasnain on 2/21/2019Ace Hasnain would recommend this product to a friendThe fixture is nice, slick, and arrived in perfect condition. However mounting the fixture threw me off and caused me a headache as did the wires. For such a nice light it is unfortunate that it does not come with simpler mounting options or just one plug for both banks of T5s.
Hybrid lighting at its finest By Bobaloo on 1/22/2019Bobaloo would recommend this product to a friendA couple of months ago I decided to try out the 48" version of this fixture to see if I can get some much needed growth out of my SPS corals and WOW did this fixture make a difference. Prior to installing this fixture, I was running 3 Kessil A360 WE units over my Reefer 350 and all of my corals were doing great BUT I just wasn't getting the growth from just the LED units. Once I added this fixture using 3 ATI Blue Plus and 1 ATI Actinic, my corals started to pop and have noticed growth in all of them, especially my SPS. I'm currently running my Kessils at 68% intensity and 18% color. I do realize some aquarists tend not to like a "blue" looking reef but I've always preferred one. So if you currently are on the fence about supplementing your currently LED system, I would encourage you to give this unit a try. For under $300 bucks, it well worth the investment and I'm sure your corals will benefit as well.
good concept; mediocre execution By Andy on 1/15/2019Andy would recommend this product to a friendJust installed the 48" hybrid fixture over my Red Sea. Sleek looking, low profile, easy to assemble. Using my 3 AI Hydra 26 LED's. BRS states this fixture is compatible with these LED's, an it is, but hardware to attach them to the mounting brackets is not included. I had to go to Home Depot and figure out which machine screws would fit. The power cords coming out on opposite ends is a pain. I routed one over the top and to the other side to meet up with the other cor, but obviously this used up a lot of its length. Aquatic Life should incorporate a channel across the top for wire management. Photos show this unit with LED's attached, but fail to show those LED power cords. I had to fashion a wire management system out of Velcro ties. Regarding the reports of the silicone en caps melting to the bulbs, I dont know yet as my fixture is new, but if that happens that would be a major flaw. So far, its working and looks OK. Good concept, needs some work to make it better.
great concept, mediocre execution By Andy on 1/15/2019Andy would recommend this product to a friendJust finished installing the 48 inch version . It's sleek looking, low profile, nice finish. using with my 3 AI Hydra 26 lights. The Hydras fit nicely using the included brackets, but no hardware was included to attach the Hydras to the brackets, even though they list these as supported LED's. Had to go to Home Depot and figure out which machine screws Were the right ones . Wire management needs work. Power cords on opposite ends is a poor design. So you have a big power cord on the left And on the right For the T5's, plus you have power cords for each of the LED's. They need to incorporate Some type of wire management channel across the top of the unit . I had to do a lot of DIY work With velcro ties To manage the wires . Who read a lot of reviews about the silicone bulb sockets melting. I have no comment on that since mine is in new fixture But I'm really hoping That issue was resolved . All in all it's a nice idea But need some work .
Nice fixture, short cords By Kady on 12/15/2018Kady would recommend this product to a friendSome of the previous reviews mentioned the plastic on the bulb holders melting, so I was planning to remove that before installing the lights. But, it came with bare metal uncoated bulb holders - seems like they listened to customer feedback.
As others have mentioned, the cords are pretty short, but knowing that ahead of time I had an extension cord ready to go. My outlets are in the middle of the tank, about one foot behind it, so most people will probably need to do the same.
Overall I like the fixture as an upgrade to my LEDs, but I might end up downgrading LEDs since my two Radion XR30s need to be run at a pretty low power with this setup to avoid over lighting my anemones.
Not Supported By Shawn on 11/23/2018Shawn wouldn't recommend this product to a friendThe manufacturers of this item did not consider that the white plastic coating on the hangers may melt and adhere to the glass. Then break on removal causing harm to aquarium environment and the end user. I notified BRS with concern. Results placed blame and action on vendor. No follow up. Do not buy this product- there is a good chance the plastic melting to the t5 bulb will cause the bulb to break and cut your fingers.
Solid, versatile fixture By Matthew on 10/20/2018Matthew would recommend this product to a friendI use the 48” fixture over a 60” tank with 3 Kessil A360s. I like that I can put the leds only 6” (or wherever you want) from the edge of the fixture and get good coverage across the length of the tank.
Melted blub holders. By Jeff on 10/18/2018Jeff would recommend this product to a friendLike every one else who has changed their blubs, the blub holders melted to the blubs. which turned a 5 star product into a 4 star for me.
Other Reefers may not be so nice. I cut my hand trying to remove them blubs, be careful Reefers.
Great idea executed poorly By Luke on 10/14/2018Luke would recommend this product to a friendIve owned this fixture for 8 months now. I just switched the bulbs to a new set, while doing that I found the bulbs that i had put in 8 months ago had melted to the rubber coated bulb holders. multiple bulbs shattered trying to replace them. The quality of the fixture is pretty poor. Two cords for each set of lights(on opposite ends) which has extremely short power cords as well. cheap t5 fixtures. I believe the fixture is a little overpriced for what it is.
Great light for the price By Roger on 10/8/2018Roger would recommend this product to a friendJust downsized to a 90 gal tank. Wanted to upgrade from older generation LEDs. The addition of t5 bulb gave my mixed reef a nice kick. The cords could be better as others have said, but not a deal breaker.
Can you run the 2 sets of T5’s separately for a blues/whites setup, or is everything on a single power cord?
Does this unit come with legs to sit on the tank or can it only be hung
At this time the only mounting option is the included hanging kit. There has been talk of accessories being released in the future but to my knowledge legs were not mentioned specifically.
How high should I hang this fixture from my tank. It is a 75 gallon, and is 21" deep.
What is the total diminsion of the unit?i have 55 gallon tank from petco
Is there individual reflectors for the t5 bulbs?
This product does have individual reflectors for each bulb. Have a great day!
On the 48" fixture the description states mounting hardware for 2 led units. In the "What's included" area it states hardware for 3 units. Which is true? Can I mount 3xr30s on this unit?
Does the fixture have any active cooling?
Can the XR30 modules be oriented so that longer width of XR30 is going along width, not length of the tank?
Thanks for getting in touch with us in regards to orientation of lights when mounting in this fixture. The lights can only be mounted one way on this light fixture. Please let me know if there is anything else that we can assist with. Thanks!
What is the spread on this fixture? I have a 48x36x24 tank. Would the 48in cover it with no dark areas?
I would imagine this should provide you with ample light, when mounted centered over your tank, to evenly light the entire system. To help you get a better idea of spread and PAR. Check out this video we did with testing over a 48" tank.
This is exactly what I'm looking for with a but....Is it possible to order an extra led hanging bracket to allow for a fourth Kessil LED?
Thanks for getting in touch with us in regards to this fixture. We are looking at getting in brackets to allow for expansions like this. More then likely we will send out a notifications to all of our preferred reefers when we get them in as this is seaming to be a very popular item. Please let me know if there is anything else that we can assist with. Thanks!
On the 48" unit how many ecotech xr30's will fit in the unit. also how many brackets will the units come with? (ex will it come with hardware for 1 xr30 or 2 or 3 etc) or will we be able to select the led type on the unit ordered that we want to house and buy the corresponding brackets to mount our units
Thanks for getting in touch with us in regards to this fixture. The space in between the left and right side rails is just over 47" which would allow for mounting up to three XR30 fixtures. There will be two brackets included with the purchase of this fixture, but we plan to get brackets in for sale to allow for the expansion. Please let me know if there is anything else that we can assist with. Thanks!
This t5 are nice but if we have 4 xr 15. How can we mount it only come with 3 bracket and also if we have canopy 49 are too long. If 46-47 yes I will pick one but with this size and only 3 bracket it won’t work on my hybrid light build
Thanks for getting in touch with us in regards to this retrofit fixture. The dims for this fixture are 47.5*18.03125*1.4375 and should work well in most canopies on 4' tanks. As far as the brackets. We plan on getting additional brackets in order to allow for this kind of expansion. Please let me know if there is anything else that we can help with. Thanks!
Any word on a possible 60" length version? Are ballasts easy to get to and replace for the t5's? I know they officially list name brands, but I imagine typical "black box" type lights to have their mounting holes fit the "standard light" bracket most likely?
Thanks for getting in touch with us in regards to this fixture. I have not taken this apart, but based off the housing it appears to be easy to maintenance the ballasts if needed. Any light with mounting holes on the top will be able to attach to this bracket directly or with adding a DIY bracket onto your light first. The space between the T5s is 7.125" as this is probably the most important dim when fitting your LED. Please let me know if there is anything else that we can assist with. Thanks!
I have 2 kessil ap700's for a 72 inch take would they fit in 2 of the 36 in lights.
I have them on the A series brackets
Thanks for getting in touch with us in regards to this hybrid fixture. You would be able to do what you are trying to do with the included brackets. Please let us know if there is anything else that we can assist with. Thanks!
Hey will these also fit the reef breeder leds modules? I have two 16” fixtures
Thanks for getting in touch with us in regards to this fixture. This would allow for mounting any light that is 7.125" wide between the T5s. For lights bigger then this you could make a mount on the light in order to hang it slightly below the T5s. Please let me know if there is anything else that we can assist with. Thanks!
When will you get a 72 inch one that has 6 LED module racks?
Thanks for getting in touch with us in regards to this light fixture. I am not sure if we will get a 72" option for this as that size is not a very common one. I do know however that you could use two 36" fixtures in order to achieve this. Please let me know if there is anything else that we can assist with. Thanks!
What are the dimensions for the insert for LED lights
Thanks for getting in touch with us in regards to this fixture. The space that is given to fit LEDs would be 47.375*7.125*1.4375. Please let me know if there is anything else that we can assist with. Thanks!
Hi, i have some radion g4 with the rms tank mounts, can this fixture accept the radions, and then be mounted to my ttank using the ecotech rms tank mounts? it looks like i have 5 inches or so clearance from my light to the rms stem, but not sure about the weight.
The the total width of the fixture is 18" which means you need at least 9" of clearance on the arm. I think the RMS mounts are capable of holding that weight but would be a little concerned about the fact they are putting stress on the rim of your aquarium. I would either use them on the ends of the tank with a RMS Multi-Light rail or hang it from the ceiling or wall mounted hangers.
Hope this helps!
