Welcome to the future of aquarium lighting!

Combine your favorite LED Light module between proven T5 lights to create the ultimate lighting system!

Accepts one Ecotech, AI, or Kessil LED Light Module

  • Includes LED Light Brackets
  • Powder Coated Aluminum Frame
  • Individual T5 Reflectors
  • Silicone T5 Sockets
  • HEP Ballasts

Aquatic Life's T5HO Hybrid Lighting Fixture lets you combine your favorite LED light module between two banks of T5 lights. The T5 lights are powered by HEP Ballasts for fast firing and excellent color rendition. Each T5 lamp has their own reflector and is held in by traditional bulb clips that have a plastic coating to protect your bulb. Aquatic Life has even gone above and beyond by including silicone end caps that make changing bulbs super fast and easy.

When you combine LED and T5 lighting you can have the best of both worlds. T5 lighting has a proven track record with their full spectrum bulbs and edge to edge coverage, and almost anyone can have success with the right fluorescent lamps. Being in the 21st century everything we own must have some type of control, and that is where T5 fails, but LED shines. LED lights are known for their ability to ramp up and down giving dusk to dawn effects while being able to change colors and spectrums throughout the day as well. LED lights provide great shimmer, and when paired with T5 lights almost creates a realistic look that you would actually find in a shallow reef.

Pair the Aquatic Life Hybrid fixture with some of the most popular LEDs like Kessil, Ecotech, or Aqua Illumination for a successful combination of T5 and LED lighting. Each hybrid fixture includes two different mounts that can accept some of the larger lights like the Kessil A360 and Aqua Illumination Hydra FiftyTwo HD, but also some of the smaller modules like the AI Prime HD and Ecotech XR15w lights.

Important Note - While supplies last, fixtures will include the round mounting bracket for the Kessil A360. In the future, these will be available for separate purchase.

Tuning Your New LED Light

Most LED lights will actually put out more light than your corals will actually need and without a PAR Meter to test the overall output, it is really hard to guess if the light is too dim or intense. We highly suggest using a PAR Meter to test the output of your lights at different points throughout your tank that you can use to tune the lights output or know where to put specific corals.

Product Questions

Can this be retrofitted with the dimmable ballasts?
Question by: John Leblanc on Sep 16, 2019, 11:07 AM
Hey there!

There is not an available ballast that will fit in the fixture. We do offer a dimmable version of this light though https://www.bulkreefsupply.com/24-dx18-hybrid-dimmable-t5-ho-light-fixture-aquatic-life.html

Take care

Is there a way to shorten the width on this unit? I was planning to hook one of these up above my Nuvo 20, and use it along with the XR15 that is already lighting the tank. But the width on this unit is slightly larger than the actual tank.
Question by: Shawn Hogan on Nov 23, 2018, 10:50 PM
AquaticLife does produce different brackets that can change the overall width of the fixture. You will need to get shorter end brackets and then also shorter mounting brackets, but they are available.

Will the A360x’s fit?
Question by: Caden Hemond on Nov 22, 2018, 9:21 PM
The A360X lights from Kessil are slightly too wide in diameter. The circular brackets are only 4" where the A360X lights are 4.3" wide.

If I wanted to outfit the 24" fixture with two AI Prime HD, how/where can I purchase an extra mounting bracket? The description only mentions one mounting bracket included with the fixture. Thanks!
Question by: Eric on Feb 6, 2018, 2:16 PM
Hi there,
Thank you for reaching out.
The 24 inch fixture only ships with a single bracket for the LED lights. You can purchase another bracket here:

Have a great day!

Would a reefbreeders aquasanrise fit inside the t5's? The dimensions of the led are 8" x 22". I know ill have to fabricate something to make it work but i want to know if it will physically fit before I buy the t5s.
Question by: Sean on Jan 27, 2018, 10:10 AM
The distance between the lights is only 7" wide, but if you wanted to mount your LED on top of the T5 lights then you could fabricate a mounting system to work. There is a possibility that it could work, but a little customization will be necessary.

I see that the AP700 will fit with the universal brackets, will the Hydra 26 HD also work using those same brackets?
Question by: Brian on Jan 25, 2018, 12:14 PM
Yes, the Hydra 26 Lights are compatible with the flat mounting brackets.
Answer by: Charlie on Jan 25, 2018, 4:24 PM
Hey guys just got a question / opinion for you on the 24" hybrid from aquatic life. Would this be ideal for a 93 gal cube (30x30) using one ai prime hd on a mixed reef or would you guys recommend using the 36" fixture with two or possibly a different led light itself.
Question by: Tyler on Jan 24, 2018, 3:00 PM
The 36" model would be too large for a 30" x 30" aquarium. The 24" ATI Hybrid would be ideal, and a single LED would be great but adding another down the line may be necessary depending on your aquascape and coral growth to fill in any shadows.

Can I use two kessil goosenecks to mount 24” hybrid to rim of tank? What is the weight of this hybrid with 360 in it?
Question by: Randy Schooley on Dec 26, 2017, 8:05 PM
Thanks for reaching out to BRS!

The Aquatic Life T5HO 24" hybrid fixture would weigh in excess of 9lbs with a Kessil A360. The Kessil goose neck mounts are not designed to hold anything but a Kessil light, and anything else would not be recommended.
Answer by: Josh Cuta on Jan 2, 2018, 9:48 AM
Is this fixture compatible with the Kessil AP700? Also, are there other ways to mount this fixture other than hanging it from the ceiling? Thanks
Question by: Joshua on Nov 20, 2017, 5:17 PM
The AP700 will fit between the T5's with the supplier universal light brackets. Currently the hanging kit is the only mounting option for this fixture.

Happy reefing!
Answer by: Zack on Nov 24, 2017, 2:58 PM
Is there an option for legs to mount on tank instead of hanging from ceiling?
Question by: Mike on Nov 2, 2017, 2:07 PM
Hey there,

At this time there is no leg mounting option. :-)
Answer by: Randy on Nov 26, 2017, 9:32 AM
What should determine the wattage of bulb(s) for my tank? Currently have one Kessil a360w on a 50 gal 24x24x18.
Question by: Eric on Oct 30, 2017, 7:23 PM
Hey there,

With the 24" fixture, you will only be able to use 24W bulbs. As the bulb wattage rises, so does the length of the bulb. :-)
Answer by: Randy on Nov 25, 2017, 12:20 PM
Is this the appropriate size for a 32" wide tank opening or is it more common to buy the 36" fixture and allow for some overlap?
Question by: Alex DiDonato on Oct 23, 2017, 9:15 AM
Hi Alex, thanks for reaching out to us!

A 24" T5 fixture should be fine on a 32" aquarium provided you hang it high enough for proper coverage. There will only be 4" of open space on either side of the T5s so coverage will really come down to the LED fixture(s) you choose to use with the Hybrid unit, the desired light intensity, and coral placement. I would use the LED fixture's recommended coverage specs and take into account the added light provided by the T5 hybrid to make your final decision.
Answer by: Nick on Nov 10, 2017, 9:38 AM
Could two kessil A360's be mounted within this fixture or is the mounting point static?
Question by: John on Oct 7, 2017, 1:03 PM
Hey there,
Great question! The mounting brackets can easily be moves side to side to allow for mounting of many fixtures. Please let us know if there is anything else that we can assist with. Thanks!
Answer by: Tyler Schafer on Oct 14, 2017, 1:12 PM
How exactly does the prime go with this. I see you have to buy the hanging kit. Does that mean you have to hang it seperatly or does it attach to the unit somehow.
Question by: Blake Ashley on Oct 7, 2017, 11:48 AM
Hey there,
Thanks for getting in touch with us in regards to this light mounting into this fixture. For this you would purchase the item that I have linked below. Using that item will allow you to mount the fixture to the included bracket. This will make it all one fixture when mounted. Please let me know if there is anything else that we can assist with. Thanks!

Questions: 1) is the center bracket for holding the LED light completely removable?
2) What is the inside measure separating the HO-T5 fixtures?
3) How much does this fixture weigh?
4) Any future plans to make this T5 dimmable?
Question by: Lou Veiga on Oct 5, 2017, 10:55 PM
Hey there,
Thanks for getting in touch with us in regards to this light fixture. The center bracket is removable. The space between the T5 is 7.125". As far as the weight this would vary from fixture to fixture, but they are around 5-10lbs without the LEDS. As far as plans to make it dimmable this I do not have information on, but would assume that this would be coming in the future for this product. Please let me know if there is anything else that we can assist with. Thanks!
