Quick Overview

Do you ever feed your tank and watch half the food float right down the overflow?

Do you ever thaw frozen foods just to forget about them?

Then you are in need of the AUQA Gadget Gourmet Defroster.

Full Details

Just drop a cube and go, and let this 3-in-1, magnet-mounted defroster thaw, separate, and dispense frozen food all by itself! Its open/close pivoting design gives you an adjustable release setting that allows for portion control and the ability to regulate the amount of food that is released into your tank. This keeps more food in their mouths, and less in your filter.

  • Reef safe magnetic mounting
  • Reduces wasted food
  • Use with any type or brand of fish food
  • Adjustable settings for food separation and dispersion
  • Easy to Clean

  • Magnet rusted By Jason on 9/24/2017

While I like the concept and with enough flow in the tank it works very well. However, the first one I purchased the magnet started to rust after 3 months. I purchased a second one and after about 6 months of very limited use it had the same issue.
  • food stays in device By Diana on 8/25/2017

I was excited to try this but I haven't had good success. An unacceptable amount of food tends to get stuck in the upper chamber. Maybe if you have a powerhead blowing straight at it you would get better results.
  • Magnet issue By Li on 8/14/2017

    couple issues:
1.Magnet swelled up after about 4-5 months, which i cut out and replace it with a better-made magnet.
2.the o rings seem to shrink the "cups" won't stay in place. i have to zip tie them together in order for them to not fall out.
  • Pricey but I like it! By John on 7/13/2017

Well made feeder with heavy gauge acrylic. I really like the way you can adjust output by turning the top section to increase or decrease the size of the holes that release whatever your feeding. Nice to be able to compensate for different size foods and control the output. I love the two holes in the side of the top section. They allow for control of water entering by raising or lowering the feeder or turning the hole toward or away from flow ( i have my feeder right in the flow from my Gyre) which creates flow through the feeder pushing food along with it! This also helps to break up frozen cubes as they thaw. There are other holes that I have not figured out yet, but I'm sure they're there for a reason. Magnet is strong and feeder stays put. I like it! Only a 4 star because there are no instructions and the top section is a little looser than I'd like.
  • Works well, but a couple issues By chuck B. on 5/30/2017

This feeder works very well for us. It gives the frozen food a chance to break up before our Hippo (appropriate) Tang grabs the big chunk. (Do fish get brain freeze?) It also gives the other fish a better chance to eat. One issue is that the top and bottom cylinders separate a little too easily when you try to adjust the feeder. Another is that it takes a few tries to position the feeder to let the thawed food spread into the tank.
  • Great concept, bad execution By William on 4/19/2017

If the magnets would last a little longer than about 6 months these things would be great. Water seeps in to the housing that holds the magnet into the mounting ring and the magnet rusts and falls apart.
  • Magnet rusted By donut on 3/10/2017

I had this thing for a few months and everything was great. Instead of waiting for the food to thaw and then feeding I just throw the food in the tank and thaw and feed at the same time. Come back to the tank in 30-40min and take the feeder out. I never left it in the tank for more then an hour but after 3 or 4 months of owning it I noticed the magnet on the cup was rusted bad and falling apart in shreds. I don't want that stuff in
my tank. Why didn't they seal the magnet? It doesn't seem like that would be to hard to do. Big waste of money.
  • Works amazing! By FLSharkvictim on 1/13/2017

I love this little gadget by IM! I just dropped a cube of my PEMysis and walk away. Another positive is you can set it for how much food you want to discharge by twisting the gadget so all the food does not go down into your Overflow boxes. My fish go crazy as soon as I drop this Gourmet Defroster in my display. One last thing the magnet is SUPER Strong FYI... I give this product 5 stars across the board and would HIGHLY recommend it to anyone the feed there fish frozen foods.
  • work great By Rocket man on 12/20/2016

I'm very happy with mine, it was a much needed tool as I had just gotten a Juvi angel, he was having a tough time fighting with the aggressive tangs and wrasses, I got this just in time, now when he sees me he swims up and waits there, he's figured out how to get his food without fighting. this would be good for the timid copperbands too!
  • Perfect By Lowell on 11/26/2016

Excellent product. Once I found the right placement so there was some water flow directed towards the upper holes, it worked perfectly. The fish went to it right away.
  • Innovative Marine--Awesome Customer Service/warranty By Robert on 11/17/2016

I am editing my poor review for this product. After corresponding with Innovative Marine about my broken/dropped feeder, Candi contacted me immediately and set up a process to get it replaced. I have a UPS tracking number that was sent to me today for the replacement. This company ROCKS!!!
  • accidentally dropped it By Robert on 10/30/2016

Broke (plastic magnetic piece)as soon as it hit hardwood floor.......too expensive for an accident like this to break that easily.....

Answer by: Connor (Admin) on Jun 11, 2015 4:19:00 PM
Would it be a problem to leave this in the tank?
Question by: Evan Chandlee on Apr 21, 2016 7:55:00 PM
Great question!
We leave ours in the tank all the time! We do take it out and clean it quite often as a result. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!
