Overview
The ECC Blue Snowflake Polyp feature small blue polyps that encrust across rock-work. It's a beautiful, yet easy coral to take care of, thriving in low to moderate lighting and flow. Place it on its own isolated rock if you wish to contain its growth.

Blue Snowflake Polyps Care Guide
Water Parameters
Corals thrive in stable water conditions with regular water changes. While soft corals like this one don't have a hard, skeletal structure, it's still important to perform routine water testing to ensure the needs of the coral are consistently met.

Lighting Requirements
Blue snowflake polyps can thrive in a wide variety of lighting conditions, but seem to do best in low to moderate-light areas of the aquarium, ideally in the 75-250 PAR range.
For those with mixed reef tanks, a PAR meter is invaluable for fine-tuning light levels across different corals, helping ensure each coral gets the right intensity for its needs. This careful setup supports the coral’s vibrant color and long-term health.
Ideal Tank Placement
Blue snowflake polyps are most often placed on isolated rockwork to prevent it from overtaking other corals. Avoid placing it near slower-growing corals.
Water Flow Requirements
Low to moderate flow is ideal. Too much flow can cause the polyps to close up, while too little may allow detritus to settle on the coral.
Aggressiveness and Compatibility
While they aren't inherently aggressive, Blue snowflake polyps should not be placed where they are in direct contact with neighboring corals. Its fast growth and ability to spread can create competition for space, so thoughtful placement is key.
Feeding and Nutrition
This coral primarily relies on photosynthesis for energy, but occasional additions of Amino Acids like CoralAmino and broadcast feedings of smaller particulate foods like Reef Chili can enhance its growth and coloration.
Growth Rate and Pattern
Blue snowflake polyps are fast growers. They can quickly spread across rockwork, so regular pruning or isolated placement is recommended to control growth.
Acclimation Process
Acclimation is essential for corals to adjust to their new environment. For a full step-by-step process, refer to our Coral Acclimation Guide.
