Some of the features of the CRYSTAL sumps are:

- Dual platforms (SUMP model)
- Protein Skimmer section
- Refugium section
The CRYSTAL series sumps have the same design and quality as the RUBY series sumps but are made of all clear material. The differences when compared to the equivalent RUBY sump:
- Same or slightly smaller dimensions
- All clear material instead of the RUBY red
- No probe holder
CRYSTAL SUMP models come with dual platforms in the space before the return section. The top platform comes with a foam block filter and the bottom one is open to use for several different filtration methods (bag of carbon, bio balls, rubble rock, etc.). This feature is on the SUMP models only.
Locking Filter Sock Holder
Filter socks snap and lock into the filter sock holders to secure the filter sock from falling out when it becomes clogged and needs to be cleaned or replaced. The 4” filter socks are 100 micron rating.
Draw String Tabs
Tabs are located on the top support brace in front of the 1” bulkhead fittings which are included. The purpose of these tabs is to provide a location for tying off 7” diameter filter socks that have draw strings.
Trigger Systems specializes in aquarium sump manufacturing. They take pride in the robustness, efficiency of the design and visual appeal of our sumps. All sumps come with a full top support brace which are made of a solid piece of material. Without this the sump will over time begin to bow out from the humidity and water pressure. We also round instead of squaring the corners which exponentially increases the strength of the corner.
Trigger Systems has taken feedback from their customers through the years to enhance their line of awesome sumps. Little things in the design aspect will pay off considerably when putting the sumps to use. A simple example is that they always maximize the distance between the protein skimmer location and the return pump in an effort to minimize the chance for micro bubbles returning to the display.
Nice sump By John on 3/22/2020John would recommend this product to a friendIts a nice sump! My only complaint with it it the opening between the skimmer section and the refugium section is a giant hole. My snails get out of the refugium and into the skimmer section. I would be 100% happy with it if the opening was more like the opening going 5o the return pump. Otherwise a nice product.
Nice Sump. Where are the probe mounts... By Brenton on 3/26/2018Brenton would recommend this product to a friendGood quality sump. It has all the right flow patterns and is easy to clean. I was between this and the eShopps, however with the flow channel setup in the eShopps cube it's impossible to clean. I also liked how it was a standard circle filter sock which I have a few of; not proprietary or square. I do wish it came with probe/dosing mounts. For this price it should come with these. I went on fleabay and bought some china acrylic mounts for 5 bucks. Common trigger... 5 bucks shipped and they're still making money...
Great Sump for Small Spaces By Beth on 7/11/2017Beth would recommend this product to a friendI have a very small space so this cube fits perfectly.
Small Package with a punch. By Luke on 6/27/2017Luke would recommend this product to a friendGreat sump for the money. Fits perfect under my 60 cube. the lines are crisp and looks great under it. refugium is large and holds plenty of dry rock. customer service is excellent.
Excepted better By Luke on 6/8/2017Luke would recommend this product to a friendThe sump was packaged every well, but there were still scratches in acrylic from the manufacturer. Also when they glue the sump, they glued a tiny bit of cardboard onto the acrylic which soaked up the glue and is not removable. The Skimmer section is a little small because they don't include the filter sock holder in the measurements. The Refugium is pretty large, but unfortunately the center divider is clear (should be smoked or tinted) which causes algae to grow on the skimmer and return pump camber. I would recommend the sump but the quality did not impress me.
Will the Reef Octopus ESSENCE S-130 INTERNAL PROTEIN SKIMMER fit into the crystal cube sump 18? I know according to the footprint it will however, I doubt that the filter sock was taken into account with the skimmer section measurements.
It should be able to fit, the skimmer is really small and the filter sock should not take up that much space.
