Peace out, filter socks.  Enjoy more and do less, the AF-1 Automatic Filter will let you enjoy your aquarium with less maintenance by removing the need to change out your filter socks or sponges every few days.

Features

  • High volume filtration capacity
  • Minimal installation footprint
  • Completely replaces the need for filter socks
  • Self-assembly for easy cleaning
  • Multiple installation options
  • Automatic advance of dirty fleece

Leaving clogged filter socks in your system for too long increases the chance for food and waste to decay within the filter sock, if the sock is not removed every few days. The AF-1 eliminates this chance, automatically removing this waste from your water column before it has time to break down.

The AF-1 is fed water through its 1.5" inlet directly entering its internal chamber, then filtered through the exposed fleece. As water passes the filter fleece begins to clog with detritus, uneaten food, organic waste, etc., the water will rise within the AF-1`s chamber, triggering the water level switch for the motor to wind on the filter roll to a new fresh piece. The water level will then drop and the process will repeat itself until the roll is near its end.

Highlights

  • Clearer Water - Waste has no time to breakdown in the water column, for cleaner and clearer water
  • Slide-out Pulley System - Replace your dirty filter fleece roll, easily, just loosen a few screws and slide out the pulleys
  • Reduced Maintenance - No need for swapping filter socks every few days
  • Suitable for fresh and marine aquariums
  • Adjustable mounting bracket

Product Questions

Would this be suitable for a 240 gallon (with about 75 Gallon sump or Total 315 Gallons) tank?

I am currently running a sump with 2 7 inch filter socks, and thinking about getting this to replace them. I know I would have to plumb it in, but that wouldn't be an issue.

Bill

As long as your sump has space to accommodate it, this filter roller will work for a 120 gallon tank.

This might be a stupid question...does this until draw water in on its own and run as a single unit hanging in the sump...or do I have to pipe the water from my tank overflow into it?
Thanks,
Joe

This would be gravity fed from your aquariums drain directly to the unit in the sump.

Is this overkill for a 40 gallon display tank with a 20 gallon sump?
Question by: John Brady on Jan 18, 2023, 12:39 PM
Hey John, thanks for the question! Not over kill but could mean skimmer does not have to be as large if even needed!
Answer by: James Johnson (BRS Staff) on Feb 8, 2023, 6:14 PM
Will this worn with a Fijicube sump? Some minor modification is ok.
Question by: William on Jul 30, 2022, 11:38 AM
Thanks for reaching out to us! This is not going to work with the Fiji Cube sump as youd have to either remove the filter sock chamber or put this in the skimmer chamber leaving little room for the skimmer. A simpler option would be to look at the Klir filter rollers that fit in the filter sock holder. Please let us know if we can help with anything else!

Hello,

I just want to make sure that this product (AF-1 Automatic Filter Roller - Aquamaxx) can be used in a freshwater setup? I noticed that other filter rollers can only be used in saltwater, but not sure about this one.

Thank you.
Question by: Erick Koob on May 30, 2022, 7:03 PM
The AF-1 Automatic Filter Roller from Aquamaxx is suitable for both freshwater and Marine aquariums.

Will this fit trigger triton 34v2 sump??
Question by: Cary Wagner on Jan 21, 2022, 2:00 PM
Hey There, thank you for reaching out to us! Without modifying the sump you would not be able to hang this on the rim. That said you could rest it in the first chamber with direct plumbing install.

Can you reverse the motor and the elbow on this like you can 9 the bubble magnus version?
Question by: Jeremy Delana on Dec 11, 2021, 2:20 PM
Thank you for reaching out. The Motor and elbow can only be installed in the pictured orientation but because it hangs from the opposite side, reversing them should not be necessary for most situations.
Answer by: William Glenn (BRS Staff) on Dec 15, 2021, 3:40 PM
Can it hang onto the Fiji 40 sump (the middle section)?
Question by: Kit L on Nov 11, 2021, 11:40 PM
Hello, thank you for your question, We haven't test fit this filter in a Fiji Cube 40 Sump, but the footprint is 10.5" X 4.75" and a water level of 4" to 6.5" (measured from the bottom of the unit).
Answer by: Christian (BRS Staff) on Nov 15, 2021, 6:01 PM
