Piece of garbage By Justin on 5/11/2019Justin wouldn't recommend this product to a friendWon’t link to my WiFi even though the system shows its hooked to WiFi. Will not link with my phone or iPad. Internet page to setup won’t even load.. worst $500 dollars I’ve ever spent
Nano trying to be ULM By Brettward on 3/20/2019Brettward would recommend this product to a friendI'm not sure what high maintenance is, but I can't imagine managing my nano tank without the head unit or the temp probe from Apex.
Good entry controller By Samer on 12/16/2018Samer would recommend this product to a friendEasy to set up, new to apex but lots of info out there on how to use. Had an issue with my Hydra52 controller switching lights on and off. Had to delete the AI app and no further issues. Energy bar is also nice but you will run out of plug space fast.
Big Improvement By Pete on 11/28/2018Pete would recommend this product to a friendThe apex works great outside the home and it's fast. I keep my apex plugged into a DC outlet on my solar system.
First experience with a controller By Richard on 10/26/2018Richard would recommend this product to a friendI love this thing! Setting up the wi-fi was a little challenging for some reason for this professional technologist (evidently I'm not a very good one). I finally got it working using an iPad but it failed to connect using a Windows laptop and desktop multiple times each, following the instructions exactly. Not sure what's up with that but I did finally get it without resorting to a support call. Not sure what I did other than using a different platform.
It has an amazing amount of functionality, particularly when taking advantage of the advanced programming feature. The possibilities are near endless using the various optional modules and the two probes this model comes with (pH and temp) are probably the best choice if one were to only get two probes. I really like the user interface both in the app and the web client as it's intuitive, detailed and flexible. I've had it for about two months and I'm hooked! They didn't have this kind of stuff back in the late 80s when I started this game and these technology tools are a big part of the reason I got back into the game about a year ago... that and the fantastic BRSTV content!
Automation is awesome By Bill on 9/29/2018Bill would recommend this product to a friendGetting back into reef keeping after 10 years, this system has taken a lot of the manual labor out of the hobby which makes it much more enjoyable! Also the ability to design a reef system that I can leave alone for weeks at a time and not have to have someone come by every day and train them is a huge win!
First imprestion By Mark Holzapfel on 9/9/2018Mark Holzapfel would recommend this product to a friendI have been running the apex for a few days now.Main unit was simple to setup and calibrate. Not a big fan of the plastic, looks to be ABS construction. Does not appear to be fiber reinforced and feels flimsy. I will give it a few months of run time before I give a final star rating. The WMX module on the other has is a waste of money Buy a Reeflink, it has set the bar high for working with their product. The APEX WXM pairing and operation is extremely poor. The WMX does not offer any template like the reef link for lighting or Moon phase.
I scheduled a support time with Neptune that is only Monday to Friday from 8 to 5 PM PST. My MP 40's where not pairing. The solution was to factory reset the Apex and clear the config out of the WMX.
works well By Kurt on 9/3/2018Kurt would recommend this product to a friendMy 20ish year old controller quit working, bought this as a replacement. Easy to set up, easy to adjust. Love being able to graph and keep track of testing.
Bought one for my Quarantine tank - love it! By Robert on 8/22/2018Robert would recommend this product to a friendAlready have an Apex. Wanted to monitor my QT in the garage. Worked perfect. Love the price.
Apex el By Steven on 8/22/2018Steven would recommend this product to a friendHad a DA Reefkeeper for 5 years, bought it to save money. I should have bought Apex to begin with. Only problem was Neptune PH probe was reading 0.3 after 3 calibrations, just used a Pinpoint probe I had problem solved.
What do I need if I want to add the Salinity to the Apex EL???
In order to have salinity on the Apex EL you will need the PM2 module and the conductivity probe. Have a great day!
Will this support the Trident?
Thanks for reaching out to us. The APEX EL does support the new Trident.
Please let us know if you have any further questions and take care.
