This budget friendly skimmer is far from low quality. The Sicce powered skimmer has a custom pump that was designed for Somatic skimmers pulls in tons of air and water making a perfect mixture for skimming, while the integrated wedge-pipe silencer assembly keeps the skimmer super quiet.
Designed for use with the Somatic 60 Filtration System.
Many protein skimmers can be twice the price but only have half the features. Somatic has created a budget friendly skimmer that does not leave you disappointed. Many of the little features that are only found on high-end skimmers are incorporated into the 60S Space Saving Skimmer. From laser engraved markings on the wedge pipe to polished and fully welded seams all around. The integrated silencer sits in the top of the wedge pipe keeping it protected and out of your way for maintenance around the sump area. The silencer also has a nipple that can be connected to CO2 Scrubbers or other accessories.
The custom Sicce pump was specifically designed for Somatic skimmers, to their specifications. The pumps impeller and venturi design pull in copious amounts of water and air, mixing them together and pushing them up towards the dispersion bubble plate. The bubble plate considerably reduces turbulence while the wine body shape of the skimmer helps remove any further disturbance of bubbles directing them up into the neck and making a seamless transition into the collection cup producing high-quality skimmate.

Excellent build quality. By Dogsrule on 6/25/2017Dogsrule would recommend this product to a friendI was really impressed just with the packaging this thing comes in. The build quality of the skimmer is 1st class, with no obvious corners being cut. The assembly instructions are non- existent (at least with my purchase), but BRS has the assembly video linked. I broke the skimmer in by giving it a quick rinse, then running it in a container of dirty water change water, with contents of previous skimmer collection cup added to it. Within a couple of hours, it was really cranking. Placed in sump & spent a little time dialing it in to get the desired foam production without dumping micro bubbles back into the sump. I am really impressed with this skimmer & I think it could easily handle a fully stocked 120G tank.
Would not hesitate to recommend this skimmer
Excellent, but air inlet is noisy. By T-Ball on 6/6/2017T-Ball would recommend this product to a friendThis skimmer is replacing a bubble magus curve 7. Pulling skim like crazy in less than 24 hour's. took a while to find the sweet spot as far as water depth. I have it @ 7". The air valve that comes with it is a must unless you raise it to 5-6 inches of water. This skimmer is wayyy under rated by manufacturer from what I can tell. I would say 100 gallon heavy bioload easily, maybe more. Super excited to see what it does when it's fully broken in. First 16 hours, micro bubbles like crazy, but it's calming down. Air inlet is pretty noisy, but not unbearable. Quality is excellent, especially for $199.
best skimmer I have owned By aheredia on 6/4/2017aheredia would recommend this product to a friendThis is the best skimmer i have ever owned. it is a true skimming workhorse. The build is superior the quality.
Best value skimmer hands down By Hart on 6/2/2017Hart would recommend this product to a friendI bought this for my 60 cube after doing quite a bit of research. A Sicce pump pulling 600L of air, titanium screws allowing you to take it apart for cleaning and space saving design for $200?!? It's pretty much a slim form vertex 130. I don't know why they are not advertising this more.
It's also seriously underrated. This thing is a beast. There is no doubt it's the best value skimmer out there. Try finding Sicce pump and that airflow at this price.
nice skimmer high quality By John on 4/19/2017John would recommend this product to a friendcant believe this is only rated for 60 gallons its underrated id say more like 100 gallons this thing can crank! I have it on the lowest setting and you have to cut the tube and install an air valve to tone it down
Amazing value By Chris R. on 3/14/2017Chris R. would recommend this product to a friendHard to believe this skimmer is $200 with a Sicce pump and the quality. took a couple of hours to break in, pretty quite!
Great design, awesome quality, quick break-in By Zyvo on 1/27/2017Zyvo would recommend this product to a friendReal good build quality and broke-in very quickly. Though the pump is very quiet, the sound from the air silencer is a bit loud when my cabinet is open. I can't hear it at all when its closed though. All-in-all great quality skimmer with internal pump.
Excellent, a bit noisy By Mark on 1/24/2017Mark would recommend this product to a friendVery high quality materials and construction, slick build that is well thought out. A bit noisy, although it's just breaking in. The pump is quite quiet; the noise is the air inflow via silencer. Since there aren't any instructions, be aware that to install the small air valve, you have to cut the air intake tubing and insert the valve yourself (per Vertex Somatic tech support). Without the air intake throttled down, there's enough air intake to literally overflow the collection cup almost immediately. This makes the air valve a must. It also fits into a Red Sea Reefer 170 sump compartment, though there isn't a whole lot of room for a reactor or other stuff.
