Difference between Refugium Booster and Refugium Starter
The product in the Refugium Booster and the Refugium Starter is exactly the same. Refugium Booster is packaged in a 24 ounce size and is generally used by reefers who want to top off their existing refugium with additional mud. Refugium Starter is packaged in a 12 pound tub and is generally used by reefers who are starting a new refugium and need a large amount of mud or for those who simply want to purchase a large amount because of frequent use and the economy of the larger size.
Amazingly alive By Steven on 2/14/2018Steven would recommend this product to a friendI added this to my sump thinking it might have some live bacteria and help with trace elements. The stuff still had so much life that a small bit of Ulva also started growing!
I did have a plastic bottle cap in my bucket but I guess that is inevitable with how little the product is processed. I might not bother with this if I had started with live rock. I consider it a must if using dry rock to start a tank.
Poor Quality Control By Damien on 2/7/2017Damien wouldn't recommend this product to a friendI purchased 2 buckets of Fiji Mud to use in a show refugium. I realize that this stuff comes from the ocean but I'd expect a reasonable amount of quality control. As I began filling my new refugium with the mud and leveling it out on the floor of the aquarium I began to feel strange objects. I pulled a Top Ramen wrapper from the mud...then a plastic toy followed by several other pieces of plastic garbage. After pulling many pieces of plastic out of the mud I removed the majority of the mud and tossed it in the trash. I emailed BRS Customer Service a day and a half ago, still no response. I imagine that this mud probably does what it says, I just don't want a bunch of garbage decomposing in my system.
Great addition By Mike on 4/23/2016Mike would recommend this product to a friendMy coral enjoy the trace elements . Easy to grow copopds .
Great sump/refugium base By N on 4/14/2016N would recommend this product to a friendThis is easy to use, good quality product. Put it right into the refugium with rock rubble, and you're all set. The product takes a bit to loosen up and settle in the tank, but that's about the only downside.
perfect By yummy on 2/6/2015yummy would recommend this product to a friendCleaned and replaced sand in refugium with Fiji mud. Is a good product. I have seen more polyp extension on my sps, and my chateo has been growing like crazy.
Doing its thing By Randy on 10/23/2014Randy would recommend this product to a friendDoes what it is suppose to do. It does cloudy up the water very easy if it is disturbed, but clears right up in a few minutes. NOT a big deal
Lots of Pods By Ali on 6/18/2013Ali would recommend this product to a friendIts been a week since ive added fiji mud to my fuge and got to say ive never seen so many pods in my fuge b4. also my chaeto is growing wild so it must be doing its thing right. the only problem i have is if you have ne cuc in the fuge you gonna wanna move them since just a tiny movment on the mud makes the water cloudy.
