Expensive, but Quality By WebCitz on 9/10/2017WebCitz would recommend this product to a friendThe mount is definitely expensive, but it is a light year better than the standard mounts that came with the SKYYE lights on the IM Fusion 20 Gal AIO.
Nice. . .and pricey By brian on 10/31/2016brian would recommend this product to a friendThese are really nice mounts, as you would expect. The only negative thing about them is the price. Keep your eyes open for deals on them, and they are well worth the money. Sleek units, cable routing on the top of the unit, and easy to install. I definitely recommend them.
Functional By Evan on 9/14/2016Evan would recommend this product to a friendIt works but I would never pay $89 for it if I had a choice.
Beautiful! By Mark on 8/29/2016Mark would recommend this product to a friendEasy to set up and they look beautiful! Theres also groves to hold your wires in place so they stay hidden.
Don't try it on a JBJ rimmed tank. By james on 4/13/2016james wouldn't recommend this product to a friendI thought this was going to be my solution to mounting my radion 30 pro to my JBJ 28gallon nanocube. Not so much. One side of the clamp is undercut to clear the plastic rim (good idea), the other side is not (bad idea). So the clamping force ends up on the cheap flimsy plastic rim on the backside of the tank, which will not support it and results in a precarious forward lean. This forward lean exerts alot of pressure on the inside jaw of the clamping fixture pushing outward on the back of your tank. I accidentally bumped my light with my head and the whole fixture started swaying from to back like there was an earthquake going on, upon looking closer it wasn't the fixture swaying it was my entire back aquarium glass bowing in and out like it was breathing. I am scared every hour this thing is above my tank, and will dump it the second I get another mounting option in my hands.
FLAWED DESIGN DO NOT BUY By Tim on 3/20/2016Tim wouldn't recommend this product to a friendLike another buyer here I had great expectations for these mounts given that I have over $2000 invested in the lights. For years it was frustrating to have no other options aside from suspension mount or direct attachment under a hood. The lights themselves ARE heavy so it was important for that aspect to be taken into consideration by the manufacturer.
Unfortunately, the result is so poorly designed that I wonder if the person that did this had ever actually held one of the lights.
If your tank has a lipped top this design WILL sag with the XR30. It looks like garbage and severely restricts the functionality of the lights by redirecting the downlight at an angle.
THE PROBLEM: The attachment mechanism is a single screw that threads through a rigid, but incredibly brittle, plastic base. The light is held up and out over the tank which causes the weight to create torque at the base. The single screw cannot exert enough force to hold the arm upright. It will sag and actually creates a hazard. It is clear by viewing that the base can fail to hold which would leave the light going for a swim.
The frustration here is that this problem has NO REASON to be that way. It would have been so incredibly simple to create a combination of multi-axis screws in an aluminum metal base that would not flex. This would clearly have overcome the combination of improper leverage by the set screw, and materials that fail.
Ecotech should recall this.
It is that bad.
WONDERFUL By Dennis on 10/17/2015Dennis would recommend this product to a friendThe light track/slide mounts is a welcomed way to hang the Radions over then tank! Fairly easy to assemble and versatile ... allowing you to space and place the lights the way you want! Functional and nice looking ... what else could you ask for?
The MAP pricing keeps the dollars spent as a non-factor but the customer service at Bulk Reef makes a BIG difference!
Great job guys!
Easy to setup By Brandon on 7/13/2015Brandon would recommend this product to a friendThis is easy to setup. Lots of parts to fit almost any size tank.
Great mount and it fits inside my canopy. By RICHARD on 6/16/2015RICHARD would recommend this product to a friendThis was easy to put together and it securely holds my radion pro. The cable management is great. It holds the light a good height above the water and it fit inside my canopy, although my canopy is a bit on the tall side - 14 inches inside, but plenty of room for the mount.
Great Mount By Chris on 6/4/2015Chris would recommend this product to a friendThis mount is what sold me on buying the XR15 light. I just had no interest in trying to hang a light from the ceiling and this does the trick. It looks great and on my rimless tank and it doesn't sag at all.
On my tank it's attached to the back wall of the filter compartment. So my only complaint is that the bolt that holds the mount to the tank protrudes into the tank quite a lot and really does get in the way. They do include a flexible plastic cover for the bolt which is a really nice and appreciated touch, but it just sticks out too far for my tank. If you have a bigger tank this won't even be noticed, but for a small tank it prevents you from getting your hand into the middle filter compartment. It's not a deal breaker by any means, but I wish they had put more thought into getting that bolt to come out the back of the mount rather than it being in the front.
Only so so By Q on 4/25/2015Q wouldn't recommend this product to a friendThere was much anticipation for this but I wish more thought had gone into it. Radions are heavy and these mounts can't seem to hold them properly. They sag. Also they don't really have the polished look of many other stands for other lights. For what they are, they are too expensive. The metal part at the top will always overhang. After spending hundreds, I am thinking of going back to diy. Sad because I had high hopes
EcoTech mounting system By JrHotRod1 on 3/1/2015JrHotRod1 would recommend this product to a friendClean look and simple design! Very easy to set up and would definitely recommend this over anything else for mounting purposes.
Are the XR15 and XR30 mount compatible/interchangeable between the two model lights?
Hello I'm trying to find out how high above the top of a tank when mounted these are? I saw it said 12" clearance but not sure if that's the measurement about tank or total height of the arm. Thanks
Can you tell me what the max opening of the clamp is?
The RMS tank mounts can be expanded to clamp onto a rim up to about 2" thick.
Have a great day!
I have these with two Radion XR15's. I want to add T5's would these brackets hold the 36" Hybrid T5HO 4x39W Fixture with LED Mounting System - Aquatic Life??
I'm afraid that this tank mount would not likely work with the hybrid fixture. The mounting height and reach of this arm is not likely sufficient to clear the fixture, and in addition the extra weight is probably more than these mounts are designed to support. There is also the issue of the added strain on the rim of the tank if it were forced to support that added weight. I would seek to suspend this fixture either from the ceiling, wall, or aquarium stand, and avoid mounting to the rim.
Will the xr15 mount fit over a Coralife biocube rim with the hood removed?
Would the grips on this mount fit over a tank with the black brace, like a breeder tank?
Will this work with 2" euro bracing?
I'm afraid this configuration is not compatible with Euro-braced tanks.
