Sweet Upgrade....... By JHMERESQU on 5/17/2018JHMERESQU would recommend this product to a friendUpgrading the Apex Classic for my new Reef Savvy 48"x24"x18" Shallow Reef Tank build, mainly for the WiFi capability and ease of updating firmware and along with the April Sale, it was a no brainer.
Best Upgrade Ever By firstname.lastname@example.org on email@example.com would recommend this product to a friendI have had an Apex Lite for several years and was skeptical that the Apex 2016 brought much to the table that I didn't already have - I was wrong. The 2016 model is without a doubt, the single best upgrade I have made to my 180G reef in a long time. The 2016 has integrated Wifi so I ditched my external adapter. The 2016 has integrated VDM, ORP and Salinity so I was to remove three modules and reduce clutter in my cabinet. The 2016 module has a much better "classic dashboard" then the Lite does, many things that could not be done or were difficult to do have been made MUCH easier - firmware updates for example are now just a button click, before I had to connect my laptop to the Lite with an ethernet cable, set a static IP and update. Gone are those days. I was surprised at the size of the unit, it is considerably bigger/bulkier than the Lite but, the "flip up" design is a reasonable trade for the splash protection and ability to see the bottom of the unit - I'm no longer poking around trying to find an aquabus port. After I finish selling my Lite, PM2 and VDM modules on Ebay this upgrade paid for itself - I couldn't be happier.
For this base unit can i connect 2 PH probes replace the ORP probe with a PH Probe or does this only take1 PH probe. Its for a Calcium reactor. I want to be able to check the effluent PH and the Tanks PH. Is this possible with this unit
You are able to use the ORP port as a pH port by going to the inputs page in either Apex Local or Apex Fusion. Select then enable pH2 to change the 2nd BNC port from the default of ORP mode to pH mode. Have a great day!
