Aquatic Life's T5HO Hybrid Lighting Fixture lets you combine your favorite LED light module between two banks of T5 lights. The T5 lights are powered by HEP Ballasts for fast firing and excellent color rendition. Each T5 lamp has their own reflector and is held in by traditional bulb clips that have a plastic coating to protect your bulb. Aquatic Life has even gone above and beyond by including silicone end caps that make changing bulbs super fast and easy.
When you combine LED and T5 lighting you can have the best of both worlds. T5 lighting has a proven track record with their full spectrum bulbs and edge to edge coverage, and almost anyone can have success with the right fluorescent lamps. Being in the 21st century everything we own must have some type of control, and that is where T5 fails, but LED shines. LED lights are known for their ability to ramp up and down giving dusk to dawn effects while being able to change colors and spectrums throughout the day as well. LED lights provide great shimmer, and when paired with T5 lights almost creates a realistic look that you would actually find in a shallow reef.
Pair the Aquatic Life Hybrid fixture with some of the most popular LEDs like Kessil, Ecotech, or Aqua Illumination for a successful combination of T5 and LED lighting. Each hybrid fixture includes two different mounts that can accept some of the larger lights like the Kessil A360 and Aqua Illumination Hydra FiftyTwo HD, but also some of the smaller modules like the AI Prime HD and Ecotech XR15w lights.
Important Note - While supplies last, fixtures will include 2 round mounting brackets for the Kessil A360. In the future, these will be available for separate purchase.

Tuning Your New LED Light
Most LED lights will actually put out more light than your corals will actually need and without a PAR Meter to test the overall output, it is really hard to guess if the light is too dim or intense. We highly suggest using a PAR Meter to test the output of your lights at different points throughout your tank that you can use to tune the lights output or know where to put specific corals.
Awesome Hybrid By Wilson on 12/21/2018Wilson would recommend this product to a friendWhile I do not think the unit itself looks as sexy as gooseneck LEDs, the end visual result and lighting spread you can get in your display with a hybrid is just too worth it. At the risk of jinxing things, I snagged this about 3 months ago and have had no problems whatsoever.
Love it! By Mitchell on 11/23/2018Mitchell would recommend this product to a friendBlack Friday! Special Aquatic Life 36" HYBRID T5HO 4X39W FIXTURE WITH LED MOUNTING SYSTEM - BLACK love it. I'm using with A.I. hydra26hds pictures show how I HAD to mount them to the fixture
Glad I bought it By Derik on 9/21/2018Derik would recommend this product to a friendI bought two 36" fixtures for my 72" tank. The fixtures themselves are well constructed and I am amazed at how much more light is produced in my tank than just my Kessils alone. Like most folks, I'm not a fan of the two cords per fixture (that's 4 total for me) on opposite ends - I think on cord per fixture isn't much to ask for. I also don't like how the power cords exit on the side because I cannot mount two fixtures flush together because of the cords. It's important to note that there is no on/off switch and the fixture will not power one unless you have both bulbs in each fixture. If you are trying to take the sting out of buying bulbs, and gradually add them your options are limited. I bought these during a rebate promotion and I have to say, the rebate check arrived faster than any I have ever done before, it was like 2 weeks after I mailed the form in and that was pretty cool.
Great way to add Actinics to your LED lights! By Brian on 9/4/2018Brian would recommend this product to a friendI bought this light fixture because my local fish store recommended it and I could see the results he was getting. Before adding this fixture he was not getting any coralline algae growth from the LED lights but now it is blooming pink and purple. His coral frags also look much better and are growing faster. What more can you ask for!!
Can't beat this for adding t5's! By Vince on 8/27/2018Vince would recommend this product to a friendI think the power cables could be a little longer, but that's my only complaint and it's easily overcome. This looks so much better than a retrofit kit with my radions, and my tanks looks incredible after installing this. On top of that, this fixture costs almost the same as some basic retro kits. Setup was easy and the brackets work perfectly to mount the leds. I wouldn't do led without this now.
This light its a great idea but need lots of improvement, like integrated timers, covers or difussers for the bulbs ,its not easy to work whit silicon caps, the clips for the bulbs are really hard you can break your bulbs if not carefull, single cable will be By Jorge on 8/25/2018Jorge would recommend this product to a friendThis ligth its a great idea but need lots of improvement, like integrated timers, covers or difussers for the bulbs, its not easy to work whith silicon caps, the clips for the bulbs are really hard you can break bulbs if not carefull ,single cable will be better ,nice produtc overall but lot of improvement can be done.
Great value for the price By Dustin on 6/30/2018Dustin would recommend this product to a friendI considered going to the store and doing what this light has done on my own and I couldn't beat the price. This light was simple to put together, 30 minutes, and easy to hang, 10 minutes. I had to do some mods to get an AP 700 to fit in but it works. There is no mounting kit for an AP700 so I had to buy screws, that's it. All said and done, my corals have responded very well to the T5 lights and have shown great growth and coloration. I'm using 2 blue plus and 2 coral plus bulbs with the kessil set on the bluest setting. This is a must have if you need a hybrid solution.
Cheaply made and shipped By Quinnchero on 4/9/2018Quinnchero would recommend this product to a friendThis is a great idea and potential product but....The construction and packaging for shipment from the Aquatic Life warehouse is garbage! Mine arrived with the box in perfect condition, but to my surprise upon opening it one top panel had been shifted about a 1/2" to one side and impossible to shift back. This bent the side panel out of whack. I disassembled the top and tried sliding the top panel over and discovered the panel was actually cut short by about a 1/4". So it is now mounted with the defective side against the wall and not seen. Other that it works great.
Great bang for the buck By Keith on 3/26/2018Keith would recommend this product to a friendSuper happy about getting this product. Easy to assemble and looks nice. Very light weight. Wish the wiring was a little more sophisticated: would prefer both plugs exit same side of fixture, and would prefer to be wired such that each plug turned on one light on each side. Minor gripes. The fixture gets the job done. I’m rocking the kessil ap700 with it (including a minor diffuser) on a reefer 250. Love the setup.
used it with my two Vervve By captngreg on 3/6/2018captngreg would recommend this product to a friendLooks a lot nicer than my old retrofit. Quality time will tell. do not expect it to out live my Vervves.
Needs refinement By Billy on 1/29/2018Billy would recommend this product to a friendVery nice fixture but I was disappointed the cords couldn’t be swapped to have both cords on one side. Hanging two AI prime HD lights in the middle. It was said to be possible but I’m finding the screws to go from the prime hanging kit to the t5 combo were not included in the kit. Time to source those screws/bolts and more than likely will need to dremel those to size. Maybe the mfg will catch on after a few reviews.
Too Cheap By Rogg on 12/19/2017Rogg wouldn't recommend this product to a friendThis product is at a low price but you will end up paying for it. The idea and concept are great but they just went too cheap
Is this a dimmable fixture?
Thanks for getting in touch with us in regards to this fixture. This fixture is NOT dimmable. Let us know if there is anything else that we can assist with. Thanks!
Will Ecotech XR30's fit in this?
With 7" of space between lights the Radion XR30 is a perfect fit, the light even includes brackets compatible with you light.
I considering placing a 3' fixture above a 4' tank. Do you think I will have a shadowing problem on the ends. I know you guys have a 5' fixture above a 6' tank. Any problems there? Thanks for your help.
I think a 3' fixture would work just fine provided you place more demanding corals directly under the fixture as the ends of the tank will have significantly lower par than the middle. If you are going to a mixed reef this shouldn't be an issue. If you are going for a tank packed with SPS corals the extra $30 for the 4' fixture is going to be money well spent.
Hope this helps!
Can you buy an extra led mount to put 3 hydra 26? Or will the light only allow for 2?
Great question! Additional Hydra LEDs can be added by getting an additional set of rectangle brackets which can be found here: https://www.bulkreefsupply.com/rectangle-hybrid-mounting-bracket-aquatic-life.html.
Happy reefing! :)
Are the LED brackets moveable or are they fixed in the spots shown in the pictures?
The light brackets sit in channels and can be position at any point along the length of the light.
Would 2 kessil a160we fit in this set up?
While it does not include brackets made specifically for use with the A160s I believe you would be able to use the included brackets with some modifications. There has been talk of additional accessories being available for this light in the near future but I have not heard anything regarding the A160's specifically.
Hope this helps!
Would 2 AL prime led lights fit in this? Thanks!
Can you use Orphek LEDs with this fixture?
The current configuration of the Hybrid T5 fixture has an opening of 7" and the Atlantik V4 is approximately 9.5" inches wide so it will not work.
That being said, there has been talk of accessories for the hybrid including new side plates that may allow you to extend that space beyond 7". Unfortunately we have not yet received any of those accessories yet so I cannot guarantee any measurements at this time.
Sir or Mam,
I’m looking at converting my 65 gal fresh water tank into salt water and lighting has been at the top of my discussions. Looking at your 36" Hybrid T5HO 4x39W Fixture is seems that it does not come with any lights. My question is, what can this $300 fixture do that a fixture to house T5 bulbs from Lowes cannot do.
The Aquatic Life has the ability to add in LEDs to the fixture with manufactured brackets. You can use a T5 fixture from a hardware store if you would like. These ones are just designed with Reefing in mind.
Will i be this hybrid work with the g5 xr15s
Yes it would, you just need to use the flat brackets that the fixture comes with.
Does it have brackets to mount 2- Xr30w in this 3’ fixture? Or do I have to buy an extra set?
Thank you for reaching out.
The 36 inch fixture comes with enough brackets to attach 2 XR30s to it.
Please let us know if you have any other questions.
Have a great day!
Is it possible to buy an additional A360 mount for the 36" and 48" hybrid so more than 2/3 Kessil's can be run side by side?
Are we able to use the black box light fixtures specifically the SBreeflight (16"x8"x3") with this?
Are we able to use the black box light fixtures specifically the SBreeflight (16"x8"x3") with this?
Unfortunately we do not have the specific dimensions of that light or other "Black Box" style lights, however the spacing between the T5's on the Aquatic Life fixture is around 7" inches. In many cases, if your fixture is less than 7" wide, you may be able to configure it to the T5 Hybrid light. :-)
Can you use the AI hydra single arm clamp on mounting kit to use with the hybrid t5 fixture?
The included mounting brackets for the Aquatic Life fixture are able to be used with the AI Hydra series lights, without the need for additional mounts. Soon additional mounts from Aquatic Life should be available as a standalone, for those who need more than the ones included with the fixture. :-)
Did AquaticLife incorporate their Halo line into this hybrid system?
Thanks for getting in touch with us in regards to this light fixture allowing for the mounting of the Halo LED fixture. I am not familiar with this light hands on, but based off the images that I found online, and the brackets that we have for this T5, I would say that these would easily mount into this unit. Please let me know if there is anything else that we can assist with. Thanks!
Can the t5s be controlled in 2 bulb units, can I turn on two at a specific time and the other two at a difrent time?
Thanks for getting in touch with us in regards to this fixture. This light can be controlled on two separate channels, and requires two plugs in order to be ran. Please let me know if there is anything else that we can assist with. Thanks!
