Unhappy By Reefer on 7/20/2017Reefer wouldn't recommend this product to a friendI purchased a battery back up about 2 1/2 years ago. Power has never been out any extended period of time. This battery is totally dead and totally useless. I have to toss it. I spent $165 for a back up that did not work when I needed it. Out of warrenty and now trash. Eco Tech says it should last 4-5 years.
My power went out and the battery backup was a dud... By Tony on 5/10/2017Tony wouldn't recommend this product to a friendI brought a year ago and when my power when out, the battery backup did not work. I contacted ecotech and it was determined the battery backup didn't have any charge.. Which I thought was strange because I always keep it charged using the trickle charger. So I tested it and charged it again, and after unplugging the charger, the battery backup powered my MP40 for approx 2 minutes before it had no charge. Ecotech asked me to ship it back for them to "look" at, but this thing is heavy so I just threw it away.. complete waste of money.
Maybe I got a bad apple unit... but when my power went out, this thing didnt help at all!

A must have even if you have a backup generator By anthony on 1/4/2017anthony would recommend this product to a friendSets up easily and will give you the added insurance to keep reef alive till power goes back on, or you can get your generator started. Dont be one of the people we read about on the forums who buys this after a catastrophic loss due to power issues
Power outage just after install By Nathan on 10/27/2016Nathan would recommend this product to a friendI purchased this on Sunday. Arrived Wednesday. I installed it and tested it, it came almost fully charged. About 3 hours later my power went out twice for about 30 minutes each time. I didn't want to spend the money, but i'm very glad I did.
Much larger and heavier than I was expecting...

Worth the price By Andrew on 7/1/2015Andrew would recommend this product to a friendThis is a no brainer purchase. So is the battery powered bubbler. When you add up the cost of the livestock we purchase for our tanks, this is some of the cheapest insurance. Very easy to set up to your Vortech powerhead .
Expensive but Peace of Mind By Dave on 2/18/2015Dave would recommend this product to a friendHad a power outage the day after I installed it. It works perfectly, I have it hooked up to MP tens, hopefully 36 hours is long enough. When you have this much invested in the hobby it's essential

This is normal with the battery back up cable and is on our systems exactly the same.
The Gyre can connect to the Ice Cap Battery back up listed below! The ecotech back up will not come with the correct plug. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!
We are not aware of the Ecotech battery back up being able to adapt to the WAV pump. As this connects with a apex cable that is not easy to adapt it would not be an easy process to connect to the 1link. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!
We do not have an exact delivery date as of yet but are currently looking to bring the booster in stock as soon as possible.
Yes, the battery backup will be plugged into the wall outlet and will automatically detect a power loss and keep the pumps running at a reduced speed.
Would i need to buy anything else ti make it work?
The Battery Back up will work with both Radions and Vortech pumps. The Battery will come with 2 outlets to plug into either the Radion Ballast or the Vortech pump. If you have 2 Radions and only want battery back up for them you will need just 1 battery. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!
You can expect up to 36 hours with 2 vortech mp10's on a single battery back up. The battery back up with come with ports to work with 2 vortech's simultaneously.
This is designed only for the Vortech Pumps.

Now, if I plug the Vectra into battery backup, how can I shut off the punp when my tank overflow?
Can I set the pump to run slower when on battery backup?
With the pump on battery back up the flow will be reduced to 30% of the intensity. You will need to unplug the battery back up when turning the pump off completely.
Good question! The EcoTech Battery Backup is specifically designed for EcoTech Marine products. Unfortunately, this pump will not be compatible. Please let us know if there is anything else we can help you with!
I have a 150G display 1.50 meter long.
The main threat when the power goes out is oxygen exchange and one pump should suffice for that. If it were my tank, I would err on the side of longer battery life by only using one pump on the battery.
How long before the battery expires or needs replacement?
What is the life-span of the battery?
We are not certain about the full life of the battery through out the years however we have been running these for 3 years without issue. the back up battery will of course last 24-48 hours depending on the load.
Unfortunately not. The vortech battery backups have connectors specifically sized for a port on the vortech pumps. They also run on DC current (the same type of energy stored in a battery) whereas the Koralias run on AC current like that from your walls. For the Koralias there wouldn't be very many options in the event of a power outage other then a generator.
It is only designed to be used with the EcoTech Pumps. Most pumps don't run on DC power like the EcoTech Vortechs do.
