Battery Backup Compatible
In an aquarium with no flow, fish and corals begin to die in as little as 4 to 10 hours. The Battery Backup is reef tank insurance in an aluminum housing.
By adding the Battery Backup, your tank is insulated from power interruptions, helping protect your valuable investment -and your tank inhabitants.
*Hours are estimated and will vary depending on battery life, pump mode, and other factors.
The Vectra Advantage
When used with the ReefLink, your Vectra pump can send you performance and status alerts right to your mobile device or computer. Your return pump is the heart of your aquarium; the faster you hear about an unexpected issue the more successful you will be as an aquarist.
- Quiet Operation
Traditional AC pumps, when used as a return pump for your sump, are flow controlled through the use of a choke valve. This method of control is inherently inefficient for two reasons. 1) The AC pump purchased must often be overpowered for your given setup to allow for flexibility. 2) By adding artificial impedance to your flow, electricity is wasted. The Vectra pump will always operate at the optimum efficiency because there is no need to use a flow restricting valve to achieve your desired flow rate.

S1 and how hot By Mark Holzapfel on 8/28/2018Mark Holzapfel wouldn't recommend this product to a friendAfter reading comments on heat issues with the Pump. I busted out the old laser thermometer. I have been running the pump for 24 hours and 100% and the DC controller and Power supply get very hot. The DC controller runs at 131F and the power supply runs around 180F.
Definity will not run them in a cabinet. Seems like there should be a better power supply option to deliver the 50 watts at 100%.. Surprised in the BRS videos on this pump, do not point this out. It can be a fire hazard.
I am giving it 50%, since you have to address the heat issue. I would not recommend it to a friend.
Fits in my SR-60 Sump By Gorps on 6/18/2018Gorps would recommend this product to a friendHave had a bad experiences with cheap pumps. Would recommend switching to a quality DC pump as you not only get the controlalbility but also greatly lessen the risk of nuking your tank. The S1 fits nicely into my SR-60 and has been running quietly for many months. The return has 4 lines so I had to create a modified feed rail. Works awesome.
Great little Pump By Aquarica Tropicals on 3/14/2018Aquarica Tropicals would recommend this product to a friendEast to plumb, very straight forward install. No leaks,no slippage, and Boy it sure Moves water. 1490Gph on my flow Meter. 5 Stars
Good Pump, Bad Coupling By Alvin on 3/1/2018Alvin wouldn't recommend this product to a friendThe S1 is a good pump. Like the fact I can program it with my cell, and control it anywhere. Just like the rest, the 3/4 Coupling is garbage. There is no way to tighten it, even when I added Teflon tape, it just keeps slipping. So you end up loosing some of the power, you can sometime feel a current coming out of the coupling.
If we pay top dollar for a product, why hasn't EcoTech Marine not fix the problem and send all of us a new and better one as part of the warranty? The Coupling does have a feel of cheap plastic. It has so much hype, and everyone gets a slightly faulty product for the price right out of the box.
Great product By Surfzone on 2/22/2018Surfzone would recommend this product to a friendThis pump is great and silent in my bedroom. Pvc cement with unions solve the slipping problem. Glad to add yet another awesome product by Eco Tech.
Its a slip connection - use PVC cement!!! By ramfu12 on 12/29/2017ramfu12 would recommend this product to a friendAll the negative reviewers here complaining that the plumbing slipped out of the collar.... you guys do realize its a standard SLIP joint... right? You are supposed to GLUE(!!!) the PVC pipe into the slip joint using a PVC cement. Basic plumbing 101. If you don't know that, you shouldn't be doing ANY plumbing work in your tank. It even clearly mentions in the manual provided with the pump. Page 6. Follow instructions and you won't have to leave misguided reviews that are due to your own user-errors and not due to any flaw with the product.
Great Functional Product By William on 10/29/2017William would recommend this product to a friendThis is a Vectra, and at the end of the day, it still functions fine like the other M1s and L1s.
Like Nick discussed, the issue everyone has with the .75 coupling is valid but is easily avoided with proper, careful installation. It's "quirky", maybe even a bad design, but its a non-issue if done right.
Great Product, Well built, moves water! By Nick on 10/26/2017Nick would recommend this product to a friendAfter installing the Pump I can say it puts out allot of flow, it is silent, well built. I like having the ability to adjust the flow, using a Herbie design I have locked in the particular flow without having to rely so much on the gate-valve, but can with more precise adjustments.
As for the issue everyone here is giving the pump a 1 star on the .75 coupling, I can definitely say it is a little quirky but I found after playing with it for awhile, its not an issue. As per instructions glue the Coupler Union to the pipe, once glued; place it on the pump and press the coupler union (holding the pipe) firmly onto the pump and let the coupler fall on the threads. Slowly and gently begin tightening the coupler, when it begins to require force to tighten if the coupler pops off the threads you did it wrong, start over. If you get it threaded correctly with the union pressed firmly and correctly seated you will be able to tighten the coupler without it coming off the threads and you wont have any issues of it popping off by pulling on the pipe.
The pump isn't just plug and play, you do need to read carefully through the instructions and calibrate it upon installation, luckily there is a video that explains it much clearer than the included directions. Overall I am happy with my purchase.
Avoid this pump. By gary on 10/14/2017gary wouldn't recommend this product to a friendThe .75 slip connection, as noted by others is junk. Slipped off my pump twice. Pump was mounted externally running a Bio pellet reactor. Made a mess. I Do recommend the reef octopus Varios pump instead. .
Avoid this pump By Reeftripper on 10/12/2017Reeftripper wouldn't recommend this product to a friendI purchased this pump as an external pump to feed a Bio Pellet Reactor. I hooked everything up and turned the water on. The .75" collar popped off. (Made a major mess). I re-tightened it. And it popped right off again. This pump is unreliable and not to be trusted. To much hoopla about the technology and not enough quality control went into this pump. I do not recommend this pump. Sad as i purchased three Radion XR30w G4 Pro LED Light Fixtures recently too. I am now looking at those lights and wondering if that was $2500.00 dollars well spent. This pump was a wasted $275.00. Expected better.
BAD CONNECTIONS By Jim on 10/11/2017Jim wouldn't recommend this product to a friendI agree with Todd, The .75" collar is slipping when tightening it down. I had it plumbed in and ended up have to put it in the sump. Disappointed. It is also a disappointment that is does not connect to the Neptune Apex system. But I do like the wattage and flow I am getting!
Will this be suitable for a 50 gallon SPS dominate tank?
Does the M1 adapter kit work for the S1 as well?
Thanks for getting in touch with us in regards to this adapter. This would work for both the M1 as well as the S1. Please let me know if there is anything else that we can assist with. Thanks!
L was sitting scrolling through a R2R forum and someone had mentioned the Vectra Line was NOT compatible with Neptune’s APEX. Is this true? L know EcoTech works with Neptune to bring the Radions and Vortechs compatible, so why not the Vectra’s?
What's the min. GPH at the lowest setting?
Thanks for getting in touch with us in regards to this pumps min GPH. This would be something that would be calibrated to each tank when first setting up this pump. It would then use this setting in case of power outage, and during feed times. Please let us know if there is anything else that we can assist with. Thanks!
